Sorry but need to vent about our recent trip to wdw. Our ps made by the poly concerige to LeCellier was our most anticipated! Staying at the Poly and had a late ps at LC (LeCellier). We went over to epcot later in the day and the afternoon storms were approaching so headed through future world toward canada thinking "we'll hang around that area till dinner. It was 6:15pm ressie for 7pm. By time we got there it was about 6:30pm, now the wind had picked up and it was lightening people where scrambling for cover and trying to go to all the resturants (understandable)... We approached the podium gave our name and ps time the greeter states " well since your early it will be even longer than if you came at the scheduled time" I asked for that to be repeated since I thought I had miss heard him... and no if we had showed up at 7pm we would of sat right down? or we still won't be seated by 7pm?... He was obviously over-wrought so I guess that is why he was VERY rude while speaking to us. Well already having a bad feeling, we took our beeper and walked through the shops, and then sat over where the show gets out out, very pleasant, after 7:15pm we went back over to the podium area and inside cause it had started to rain severly. Inside we sat till about 7:25 when our thing lite up and we where escorted to our much anticipated table. upon entering the dining room from the hall the hostess stops, gee we get to sit right in the entrance way (now I'm really happy). After we sit down and she leaves I notice several tables that are actually empty and still a lot of people waiting? Waitress comes over and we begin unfortunately for my sister & I she has the center section that has all very large groups, tables with very large parties on them. They need lots of attention and aside from dropping off the pretzel bread, pop, and someone else dropping off our meal, we barely see her. We both had the lobster and filet but her's was twice the size of mine and her steak was just about raw, asked for very well done. We then had to about find the waitress to get our check to get out of there. We did get to hear from the the hostess crew to each person entering and standing in the entrance next to us about the provinces of canada and which one is located where in the resturant. Overall a very poor experience, last december we loved this place and could not wait to go back. We found the staff unfriendly, over worked and under whelming. Food not worth the high price. would not reccommend. :( MKY

Why didn't you ask to speak to a manager?

There is no excuse for that type of behavior or service at any restaurant. Upon receiving the rude comment at the podium, you should have cut it off and requested management.

If you were not happy with your food you should have said something.

I'm sorry if I sound unsympathetic to you situation, but I am a firm believer in notifying someone of sub-par food and service.

We ate there last spring and thought it was over rated, and a bit pricey for a steak house. nothing special.

And Lamb: Unfotunately not everyone is outspoken, and willing to make a fuss. Even if they should! :o

I hope to have a better experience in December when we dine with the PS package. I am not a very outspoken person and tend to cringe when I am in a situation where I have to say something. I would have this time. That type of treatment is unacceptable. I definately would have swallowed the lump in my throat and asked to speak to a manager. Especially with the steak. There would have been no way I would have accepted a very rare steak when I asked for a very well done one. What has helped me do this is that I want my children to be able to speak up when needed. And, if no one talks to the management and just walks away unhappy, the problems won't get solved.

I'm not talking about making a "fuss". I'm taking about people getting what they are paying for and if they don't receive it, letting someone know. Not in an embarassing way to either the customer or management, but quietly. Why would you go to a restaurant having great expectations and when disappointed with both service and fodd, just sit there quietly and not say anything to anyone. You're paying for a quality meal and service.

Here's an analogy...

If you bought a brand new car and there were several things wrong with it, would you bring it back to the dealer or would you say that you didn't want to make a "fuss" about it.

Gosh, I really didn't want to start a debate about c/o or not, just about our experience at the resturant. Yes, if it was up to me I would of been in full voice c/o and vocalizing my thoughts to the guy out front to the table selection to the shoddy service to the poor food. However it was my birthday dinner and my sister was "treating" me. She did not want to start fighting with strangers on my birthday. We tried to "overlook" the problems and kept hoping they would improve until we finally just cut our losses and got out of there. As the food went I ate the parts of her steak that where edible and she ate mine. This meal was during the 1st week in august, the park was crowded, it was hot, we were tired, and had been down there already over a week. Trust me I could very well of let them of known what was up! And I do believe you need to c/o to correct things for the future, but sometimes its just not the right time to do it. She really did not want to and since it was her treat I respected her wishes. As a frequent on these boards, I only waited till I had cooled off to write about our meal problem trying to not sound to ^%$#^&.;) MKY Hope, Le Cellier straightens out there act. :)

Everyone's experience is obviously different but we have eaten there twice and loved it both times. The food and service has always been good. We just there two weeks ago and our waitress was excellent as was the food. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience but I don't think it is that way all the time.

We had a great meal last December, but we did have some problems with getting our table at our PS time even though there appeared to be many vacant table and we were at the beginning of the night.

We had a really bad experience there in May too. We have always loved Le Cellier, but last time was pretty bad. My steak was very overcooked, and the side dishes weren't very good this time. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she just shrugged her shoulders as if to say, "oh well!" I hoped to see a partial credit on our bill, but she just dropped the full bill off, and left.

I sent a letter to the manager of Le Cellier when we got home, but I never received an answer.

We will probably try it again someday, since our other visits have been good. But it will be awhile. In the meantime, we've found other "favorite" restaurants! :D

We also had a bad visit there in May. I had never eaten there before but after reading such rave reviews on this board, I decided to choose it for our special Mother's Day dinner. What a mistake! Besides the pretzel bread, there was nothing that I found special about Le Cellier. All of the food we had was fine but nothing outstanding and way overpriced for the quality. Our waitress was also quite busy and was hard to chase down. We have much nicer steakhouses at home so I am not planning on returning there again. It was everyone's least favorite meal of the trip.

I wished I had booked the dinner at the Biergarten instead. Even though the overall quality may be considered less, there would be much more to choose from on the buffet (for less of a cost) plus lively entertainment during the meal.

I will say that the reviews I got from here for Ohana and Cape May Cafe were right on the money. We will definitely be returning to those!

We ate there in December for lunch. I got the strip steak because the hamburger looks like it came on an english muffin. My steak was fatty and undercooked. I told the waitress about it and sent it back. I got my steak back after my sister was done eating. I think they forgot to turn on the grill because it was still undercooked. I asked for extra pretzel bread they gave me it and took my butter. Also the refill of soda took as long as the steak did. I don't think I will return to this resturant because the food and the poor service even after complaining about it.

I am shocked to hear of your bad experience. LC is usually a dining staple for us, along with O'Hana and Flying Fish. I find their food to be very good and reasonably priced for EPCOT, plus our service has always been a cut above. During our vist last September, the waitress we had there was simply the best we ever encountered in our 13+ years of Disney dining.

It sounds like it was very hectic and they were unable to handle it. You should have said something, because I bet they would have made it up to you.

Mike

Panic is setting in. We have never been to Lec. and have ps for here on Christmas eve as part of the CP package. Now I am wondering if I should change! I read all these great reviews, but it looks like something is amiss lately.
