Hi all,

We are going to be going to WDW in January, and as I was making my reservations I was thinking about past experiences in the World.... Unfortunately, it has been around 15 - 20 years since I have been.... I think Captain Eo was still playing at Epcot last time I went! :3dglasses

Which brings me to my question for this post.... Does anyone remember Le Cellier being a cafeteria type service when it was new...? I seem to remember having some yummy Maple Pecan pie when I was there anways.

Anyways, we don't have plans for Le Cellier for this trip (doing Biergarten instead), but I thought I had a vague memory of Le Cellier... :)

aha, I now know I am not losing my mind! :upsidedow

I thought I remembered it as a cafeteria.... but as I mentioned previously, it has been ages since my last trip! (I was a teenager at the time) :)

I am looking forward to making a return, with it being a first trip for my husband and daughter :)

I remember it as a cafeteria also. I remember eating there but my memory of the menu and what we had is fuzzy.

I also remember going back years later, before the dining plan, when LC was first a traditional table service. The menu was bigger with more variety of steaks but a little more plain - no mushroom risotto, etc. They did have the breadsticks back then.

when it was a cafeteria - wasnt it "bigger"

as in you check in - and a CM takes you down a short hallway - you turn right to the dining area - I seem to recall a room to the left (much smaller, but still a room of sorts...) :confused3

I've heard rumours that Captain Eo will be coming back. I hope that doesn't mean that Le Cellier will become a cafeteria again.:lmao:

That hallway is still there, but it is used for storage necessary for a table service restaurant now. Lots of wine and alcohol! Look to the right when you enter the lobby and you will see a locked door.

I don't remember when it was a cafeteria, but I do remember the days when you could actually GET a reservation.. or just walk in and get seated! Haven't been able to eat there in quite some time. It's always very disappointing :sad2:

The trend we are seeing lately is very few people actually show up for lunch reservations. Many no-shows. Try for a walk-in next time you are here. A party of 3 or 4 at lunch is easy to do right now as a walk-in.

Walk-ins for dinner have been happening occasionally, but not very often.

Our first family trip to WDW was August, 1990. 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience' had replaced Capt. Eo. I remember because it was amazing to see HISTA with NO CLUE as to what was going to happen. So it has been at least 19 1/2 years since you were there.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

PEOPLE...you are all dating yourselves. :rotfl:

I not only remember the restaurant in Canada as a cafeteria, but I remember eating at Chef Mickey's when it was at DTD. It was not a buffet, and we have a picture of me there with a rack of ribs that was bigger than the plate. YUMMY!

I remember the cafeteria version of LC. We probably ate there several times but I don't remember much about the food. :earsboy:

BTW, when Chef Mickey's was at DTD wasn't it called the Walt Disney World Village?

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be giving it a try.
