Le Cellier or Teppan Edo?

I know everyone is going to immediately say Le Cellier but this is why I asked for your opinion between the 2 options! We visited Disney last easter and had lunch reservations at LeCellier! I was not able to get dinner reservations so we went for lunch. It was very good but maybe my expectations were so high or maybe it was my nephews complaining about missing the park that I was dissapointed? We are going on a "do over" trip in October that consist of just myself, my husband and my 4 year old son! We love steak and was able to get a reservation at night, and my theory is that it is better at night since they are only switching dinner to signature. However, I have never eaten at Teppan Edo, we've only had sushi from Jappan and I kinda think my son might get a kick out of the whole experience! What do you think??? I honestly know I will be satisfied at either place! I am seriously considering giving up my LeCellier reservations to have the experience at Teppan Edo, am I crazy for that? Thanks for your imput!

Well, we haven't eaten at Teppan Edo, but I can say that our dinner at Le Cellier last Friday night was horrible. We ordered the Prime Rib and it was so fatty and so thin (for $26.99), we sent them back. They were very nice and offered us something else, but we declined as we were already turned off by what they presented to us. Additionally, they were handing us our dinner plates while we were still eating our appetizers. Just abysmal in every respect. Needless to say, we will not be going back. BTW, the Prime Rib at Chef Mickey's was 100x better. Go figure. :confused3

We have never eaten at LeCellier. But we ate at Teppan Edo for the first time this last trip. It was very good. My DH got the shrimp and filet and my son had the filet. I had the filet and it was great. One daughter had the shrimp and the other had chicken breast. My DD for the chicken is very picky and won't eat meat if it had "black" stuff on it. So it had to be cooked without really changing its color other than it looked cooked rather than raw. The chef did an excellent job preparing the chicken for her. We liked it enough to go back again.

well i am a believer that we should try everywhere so my DW and i are trying teppen edo for the first time. from what i heard both are good but if you tried one already why not try something different. check out the menu at teppen edo and if it is something that looks like it has something you want the go for it.

Teppan Edo is great, but if you have a hibachi restaurant near home, it is very similar and you don't get fried rice with your meal. I ate at Le Cellier in August for lunch and it was spectacular. We had Great wine, amazing Mushroom Filet with the risotto, and very tasty cheddar cheese soup that went great with the free bread sticks you get. I would say to go there.

If you were disappointed with lunch, you probably will be with dinner, too. We love Le Cellier and have eaten lunch and dinner there many times. If you had steak it would be the same. I think the only difference is that the dinner steak may be a little larger.

Teppan Edo is also one of our favorites. It is a typical Japanese Steakhouse, so if you've been to one before you know what to expect. We really enjoy the food there - with the exception of the child's dessert. It was a Dole fruit cup - complete with the plastic covering still on top. But, other than that, the food was fantastic. :thumbsup2

I would pick Teppan Edo. We also had a not so good meal at Le Cellier. Our meal at T E was really good! we would go back to Teppan before Le C any day!!

like everyone else has said, give it a try!!

We loved our lunch in January at Le Cellier. We canceled our ADR at Teppan Edo because we were too tired. I'm worried about the veggies; apparently they are only; mushrooms, onions and zuchinnni. DD6 won't eat any of those and we don't eat Zuchinni. We're tempted but I think we'd be disappointed. If you chose Teppan Edo let us know how you make out :)

Having ate at both resturants, i was completely unsatisfied with Teppen Edo. We have a local Hibachi grill here in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati and it was 1000x better. Maybe it was because it was almost too authentic for our taste? :confused3 But we love Le Cellier. We always get the Mushroom Filet and it is one of our favorite meals in the world. Is there any way to try both??? :goodvibes

I personally prefer Teppan Edo. I ate at Le Cellier once, and didn't care for the atmosphere or the meal. I don't see the big appeal. I preferred Concourse Steakhouse, and was quite disappointed when it closed.

I have been to Teppan Edo several times, and have always enjoyed the experience and the food. :goodvibes

I haven't eaten at either. Getting dinner reservations at Le Cellier is nearly impossible and I've heard the food has been in decline for a few years. Not sure when your next trip is planned but I know that in 2011 Le Cellier is going switching to Signature dining meaning you will have to spend 2 TS credits if you are on the dining plan We are going next year and there's no way you'll get me to part with 2 TS credits for Le Cellier. Citricos or Narcoossee's, yes.

I'm hoping we can do Teppan Edo next year. DS loves hibachi dining and where we live it's almost as expensive as what Disney charges so we don't do it often.

So my vote is for Teppan Edo. I think you'll enjoy it!

Any understanding as to why at Teppan Edo they cook your food in front of you but they do not do fried rice?

I love hibachi, but Teppan Edo is way overpriced for what they give you both in terms of the food and "the show." I can get a better dining experience at home, so for me, it's not worth it.
Le Cellier definitely isn't the best restaurant in Disney, but I'd rather eat there.

Think of it as deciding between watered down Benihana and watered down Outback Steakhouse. Neither restaurant is spectacular, but both have fun waiters and atmosphere. I personally would go with Teppan Edo simply because there is a bit of a show with dinner for the kiddos in your party. If you have never been to a hibachi style restaurant, check one out at home (for less money) and see if your family enjoys it. Unfortunately LC has been run over with dining plan participants looking for a 1 TS credit steak. Disney is not going to increase the quality of meat in the evening when it becomes 2TS, they are just going to start asking for even more money for crappy grade steak so clueless theme park visitors can scarf down a mediocre cut of steak not worth the money and be rushed out.
