We are trying to decide (6 adults, 2 kids) whether to eat at Le Cellier or Coral Reef when we are in Epcot. Heard great reviews on both. My mom's boss goes to WDW every year and said he would never eat at Le Cellier in a million years. He didn't say why. That is the restaurant I was leaning towards, now I wonder? I need your opinions please. :)

I've never been to Coral Reef, but we had an excellent meal at Le Cellier. I would definitely go back (after I've tried all the restaurants I haven't gone to yet!).

I'm the opposite of the last poster. I've eaten at LeCellier but not Coral Reef. I was not impressed with Le Cellier. Yeah, the cheese soup and pretzel bread were excellent, but wasnt impressed with the steaks or the atmosphere. This trip we are trying Coral Reef instead.

We have only eaten at Le Cellier and had an excellent meal, so I do recommend it. As for Coral Reef I was looking at it for this trip but have seen mostly bad reviews on it. Have you looked at the menus on allearsnet? I would make sure to review both of them and see what appeals to you the most. The filet at Le Cellier was de-lish. :thumbsup2 So was the pretzel bread, cheese soup & creme brulee. They have the cutest chocolate moose dessert for the kids too. I think you would be pleased with Le Cellier. I wonder how long ago your boss had eaten there because I do think Le Cellier used to offer a different menu a couple years back.

Definitely Le Cellier! My kids love it ! Especially the Chocolate Moose for dessert!

I've eaten at Coral Reef. I was not impressed with the food at all. But, just being able to sit in a nice round booth in front of the huge aquarium was worth it for the kids. :thumbsup2 Next year when we go back to WDW, we are going to Coral Reef just for drinks & appetizers to be able to sit again in front of the aquarium. I have not been to Le Cellier so I cannot comment on that. :confused3

And while we definitely enjoyed both, if I could only do one, I'd do LeCellier. Excellent meals for all (and there were 9 adults and two kids, ages 5 and 3.)

But like I said, we enjoyed Coral Reef, too. Do you all prefer seafood or steak? ;)

I know I'm in the minority here but our family didn't find Le Cellier to be all that great..maybe it was a bad night or something but it was just so-so. On the other hand we loved Coral Reef. We went for lunch and found it to be excellent....the food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. :wave2:

The food is definately better at Le Cellier but my kids loved sitting by the aquarium at the Coral Reef. There is not much to entertain children at Le Cellier, although they do have cool desserts for kids. My kids were 6 and 4 when we went last July. HTH. :thumbsup2

I've eaten at both. I didn't care for Coral Reef at all. I thought the food was very pricey & just so-so, not very big portions, but it was a number of years ago. I thought it was very dark & found it a bit claustrophobic. You get better views of the Fish from inside the Living Seas. I liked Le Cellier much better and have eaten there a number of times. It is one of my favorites.

I am a Le Cellier dissident. Next trip I'd go to Coral Reef or a number of other places at EPCOT before I'd hit Le Cellier again.

LeCellier for our family all the way. We enjoy everything

Both are fine choices... but they are very different restaurants. The menus and food presentation are different, and the atomosphere and decor of each are totally different. The recommendation of researching the menus to help you decide is a good idea. My suggestion is to have your meal at Le Cellier, and go to Coral Reef (ask for Jose as your server) for dessert. Then, you get to experience both. We've gone just for dessert a couple of times and really enjoyed it. We also went to Coral Reef last year for a food & wine pairing luncheon during the Food & Wine Festival, which was really nice. Though this September, we plan to have dinner at both.
Have fun.

I think you should go with le cellier it was an excellent meal !!! Coral reef on the other hand was not so good

We went to Coral Reef with 6 adults and 5 children. While the atmosphere, with the entire glass wall of fish swimming by, and the stacked seating, so everyone has an excellent view, was wonderful, I personally did not find the food or service worth the prices. I think most of us felt that way, especially since we had just walked thru Living Seas and seen the fish anyway. My dad, (60 at the time) really enjoyed the meal though. He has a wonderful time trying new things and they did have quite a variety of unusual seafoods that he even got the kids to take bites of! I've never been to Le Cellier so I cannot compare the 2 for you. Just say, for the price, I don't think it was quite worth it, in my opinion. If your family really loves seafood though, you might have an entirely different experience. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful time wherever you do go!

I thought both were OK food-wise, but I love the tank at Coral Reef. I've never been a fan of LeCellier, probably because they're so overhyped for me. I'd definitely go with Coral Reef.

I have never eaten at Le Cellier although I hear it is wonderful.

I love seafood and we REALLY enjoyed Coral Reef. We went in November and it was doubly great because the Living Seas was closed and we got to see the fish anyway. My kids (then 2 and 4) were mesmerized... especially my oldest and he's severe ADHD and it was the end of the day.

I had the shrimp pasta which was lovely, my best friend had the fish that starts with Tep.... can't spell it! My husband had the snapper? Whatever fish they serve with the head and tail on and loved it. The kids split a pizza and my best friend and I split the lobster tail. Everything was yummy and hot. Service was great. The waiter was even helping my DS identify fish! The divers were in the tank when we were there too... kids thought that was VERY cool!

Yes, it was expensive but for great atmosphere and great food, I don't mind paying that... I pd that or more for a nice seafood restaurant in Galveston, TX (without the beautiful tank)!

The desserts are to die for too. We got the Chocolate Wave and Chocolate Adrift to split among all of us. YUM!!

The funniest thing was when we first got in and got seated (we were 3rd teir up with a GREAT view)... my son was watching the fish and shouted "Here comes the Turtle!" and the whole restaurant stopped and got quiet to look. It was so cute. It is very family oriented in there- I didn't mind bringing my spirited children- there were many others in there!

We already have reservations for our first night on our next trip- after check in we will go straight there and then watch Illuminations- what a way to start a trip!!

Enjoy!

I agree, I thought the Chocolate Wave was amazing. I don't see it a lot on these boards, but it's one of the best desserts I can remember at WDW. Our CM even said it is consistently voted "Best Dessert at WDW".

Thank you everyone for the great advice :thumbsup2 I see we have a tough decision to make about where to eat. Maybe we will just have to eat at EPCOT twice.
