Le Cellier Newbie

After weeks of checking the WDW website, I finally got a lunch ressie at Le Cellier. (Just when I'd about given up on it!) My family and I have never been here. What does anyone recommend we order? Is it really as great as the hype makes it sound? I must admit that the reviews I have read have made me really psyched about it. Enough to hop parks in the middle of the day to get to the ressie (just MK to Epcot. not too bad.) I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl, DH is that kind of guy, and I am one of those very fortunate parents whose DS, 5, will eat just about anything.

The only downside is that I have the Le Cellier ressie the same day as dinner at CRT. There's a 6 hour gap, but I'm still wondering if I'm going to have room to enjoy both!

The filet with the cream cheese mash potatoes is excellent. The good thing is the portions aren't huge so you will have room for dinner.

We just went for the first time on Oct 4th~ Loved it!
Go the filet with the cream cheese mashed potatoes, it was so so good
But I fell in love with the cheddar cheese soup, and with the pretzel bread~OMG, you guys were so right, after reading about it for years, It was soooooo worth it

I had the steak with mushroom risotto. I didn't know if I would like risotto, I would generally not order this but wow was it good! The cheese soup was also amazing and the pretzel bread! We had wished we had booked here twice. CRT didn't match up. We were pretty full though when we were done.

Le Cellier's lunch portions are smaller than at dinner, but honestly, the food at CRT is fairly average, so I wouldn't worry overmuch about being too full for it. Enjoy Le Cellier's great food and CRT's fantastic atmosphere! They are both amazing!

And before I ever visited LC for the first time, I thought the place had to be overhyped. Nope, I loved it!!! There are, of course, a handful of people who dislike it, but as a self-described "meat and potatoes" person, I doubt you will be among them.

JUST KIDDING!...we really enjoyed it, and we aren't easy to please when it comes to steak!

DH LOVED the cheese soup with the pretzel bread. He didn't love the steak & potatoes dish. I liked the NY strip a lot, but some may find it pretty salty. It was borderline for me. The cream cheese mashed potatoes are sooooo good!!! I could make a meal of those & the pretzel bread.

The maple creme brulee was a hit with DH. I thought the chocolate cake was good, not great.

Next time I will get the filet, plain with the cc mashed potatoes.

Is it really as great as the hype? IMHO nope!! I wasnt impressed at all with my meal there. (Maybe im spoiled in my hometown? lol). The "famous" soup wasnt that great, i've had far better at my local sandwich shop. The pretzel sticks were blah. The steak (strip steak) i ordered was a joke. The folks who have ordered the filet seem to really like it, so maybe thats the way to go? But i wouldnt recommend the strip steak. This place is way over hyped to be honest. But it is worth a shot at least once.
BTW, i do admit that theyre mashed potatoes are pretty darn tasty! have fun.

This has been an on going problem with this resturant, it has been praised so high that everyone thinks it's the greatest place in WDW, please don't get over hype up about it, because it really is not, I have had better steak at Planet Hollywood and house of blues, if you truly want a good meal go to Yatchsman, just don't be disappointed as I was at Lecellier, I also waited a long time to get in to LC and found I should have went to the Electric Umbrella, Better steak on a Bun than LC serves on a Plate. But give it a try for yourself

See I was disappointed in yacthsman. The food was good I'll agree but not so much better then Le Cellier to make up for the horrible service we had. (Seriously I get better service at my local Chili's!) They apparently messed up one of our steaks but didn't tell us so we just had a REALLY long wait while everyone else was getting stuff around us (and the restaurant wasn't full either) Then just before our steak gets there they tell us and give us two free sides, except it was mushrooms and spinach. I will do mushrooms a bit but not a full side like that, and neither of us would eat spinach, I would have much rather 1 side that we got to PICK and to be told about the wait earlier would have been nice.

Then the waitress who was a bit cold and snotty the entire time was really bad at the end when she mentioned that we didn't even try the sides (well hello we didn't ORDER them).

So yeah I would take Le Cellier over Yacthsman's even if the price was the same, with the difference between lunch at Le Cellier and Yacthman prices I'm definitely sticking with LeCellier.

Honestly I think it is overhyped. We had reservations there and then cancelled for this upcoming trip. I do love their soup though which was the main reason for going but since they have to soup at the F&W, I will get my fix then. The fillet is just okay, the strip steak wasn't good. I had the steak sandwich once and the bread was hard as a rock and the rest was just okay, the burger has been good. The mussel app they had was good but I don't see it on the menu for lunch anymore.

My fiance and I LOVED Le Cellier. It was our favorite meal of the week! Stick with what they're known for, which is pretzel bread, cheese soup, mushroom filet, and NY strip, and you'll have a fabulous meal I can't comment on the other entrees, but we both looooved ours. I loved the maple creme brulee too!

I'm a vegetarian, so taking my opinion out of it... my friends LOVE this place. We tried it in July; BFF made me make two reservations there in September. The friend who went in September is making the cheese soup for a church function later this month, lol. And one of the friends who went in July is coming again in December -- guess where we're going for lunch, again? LOL.

The mushroom filet with risotto is a huge favorite of BFF, and the cheese soup with pretzel sticks have gone over well with everyone. I've been fortunate enough to have chefs make vegetarian cheese soup for me twice, it's very filling! I also love both the chocolate mousse and creme brulee.

Nobody in our group has had a complaint -- outside of being frustrated that we can't finish it all. Obviously, though, tastes vary!

Le Cellier is one of our favorites! We do lunch and usually get the Prix Fixe menu, which last time we ordered two and split it between the four of us. My daughter and I had the cheese soup while DH and DS ate the entrees and we all split the desserts. I also order the chocolate raspberry shake

See it is just the opposite for me, I have always had great service and steak at Yachtsman, but I sure can't say the same for LeCellier. The check in is awful, the seating way to close together, dark and noisy and the newyork steak is tough, why would a so called steak house only have 2 types of steak on the menu when neither are very good. Sounds like another vote for the Electric Umbrella.

I wanted to add a point to my earlier post, of all of my friends loving LC... none of them knew of the "hype." I am the researcher and planner, so they were offered the opportunity to look at the menus (some did, some did not) and made dining requests off of those. For the most part, I said, "Hey, I think xyz will work well," they agreed, disagreed or ignored me and then I told them where we were going any given day. Nobody had any expectations, except for myself, and since I don't eat steak I had no expectations for the steakhouse.

Not sure if that makes things better -- like they should be more impressed due to not knowing about the hype -- or makes them more apt to expect nothing and therefore be impressed, lol.

Historically this TS destination was once a walk-in restaurant. Not all that much in demand. Then along came mainstream ddp and this place became the target of new TS diners looking to get steak for 1 TS ticket. Overhyped? Yes. Great meal..not really. Not one that we talk a lot about or worry about getting an ADR.

We had terrible service at Yachtsman, too, which stunk because it was our anniversary dinner. We were apparently the last ADR of the night even though their posted hours were for another hour or so...they were closing the place up around us and the other remaining diners, pretty much from the minute we sat down. Sorry, but for a $150 "signature" meal, I would've thought they could at least hold off on vacuuming right between tables where folks were still seated! On top of that, our waiter was kinda snotty and rushed us through in about 35-40 minutes total. Maybe 10 minutes after our entrees were served, he brought the check without even asking if we wanted dessert. Fine by us because we were pretty annoyed at that point and just wanted to leave. As we were walking out, we saw that the entire kitchen was closed and dark! I wonder what they would have done if we insisted on ordering dessert and coffee - flip the lights back on and dig something out of the fridge?
