Le Cellier - Lunch vs Dinner

We have an upcoming trip in Jan. and I have tried and tried to get an evening ADR for LeCellier. We finally decided we would go ahead and book a late lunch and check periodically for an open evening ADR.

My question is....Are the steaks the same size for both lunch and dinner? My DH loves the fillet with the mushroom risotto. He is a big eater and will be very disappointed (and still hungry ;)) if the steak is tiny. I talked with an terrific CM the other night and asked him this very question. He checked the menus but he said it did not give ounce or portion sizes.

Thanks in advance for your help.:goodvibes

Have had it for both lunch & dinner & yes, it is a smaller portion....probably too small for a guy if it is a lunch/dinner meal.

My friend had a steak for lunch last Saturday, he didn't object to the size. It didn't look that small to me. I don't know how it compares to the dinner steak. I didn't order steak. If it's small, then there would be room for some of the really good appetizers...

We were there for lunch and dinner and didn't notice the steaks to be any smaller at lunch than they are at dinner.

They are certainly the same price at both meals.

From what I can recall, the filet at LC is 5-oz at lunchtime, and 7-oz at dinner.

We've never noticed a difference, but that could be because we were not as hungry at lunch. I'd be interested to know the weights, too. :confused3

Yep, done both many times and the lunch portion is smaller than the dinner portion. I would suggest some soup and lots of bread prior to the entree arriving.

We have and ADR there in 2 weeks at 4:20. I'm hoping this is dinner because I requested 5pm and this was the only opening around that time. Has anyone eaten dinner there are 4:20?

I haven't eaten there yet but I also have a 4:20 reservation and it's within their posted dinner hours.

Yes, this is dinner. Dinner starts at 4:00PM

To the OP: I was going to post this exact question! Our trip isn't until April, but by then, dinner will be two TS credits and lunch will be one, so I was debating making a late lunch ADR instead. I was a little worried about the steak portion for DH and DS, but selfishly, I was also bummed because the chicken dish I like is not on the lunch menu...only dinner! Le Cellier was everyone's favorite on our last trip, but the two TS credits could mean we scale back. Besides, I've heard it's been ridiculously hard to get an ADR for dinner, even at the 180 day mark! I tested the online system just for fun, and there were tons of slots open for lunch in late Feb and early March.

GL to you!

A couple of days ago when I called to see if an CM might do better at finding me a dinner ADR than I was doing I got connected with a great CM who was extremely helpful. He was probably the nicest and most informative CM I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with....he went above and beyond to help me.
He was looking for the portion sizes of the lunch vs dinner steaks and in doing so found the new LeCellier menu and said he was stunned, as he read it to me. So was I...There is NO STEAK on the dinner menu. They will have Salmon 2 Ways, a Salt Crusted Prime Rib, and Some Sort of Chicken Breast. I really couldn't believe it. I asked him how in the world that menu could justify 2 TS credits on the DDP? He said he agreed and couldn't believe it himself. He said that it may not be the final draft but he thought it would cause quite the controversy. I told him I totally agreed. I am assuming this trip in Jan might be our last time to eat there for a while.

I am wondering if I might could order the dinner sized portion and pay OOP the difference. Does anyone know about that?

On a side note the CM highly recommend the Big River Grill, which is at the Boardwalk. They do their own reservations and they do take the DDP (1 TS). He said it was he and his wife's favorite steakhouse on Disney property. Their number for reservations: 407-560-0253. they also have their own micro brewery, if that interest you (it doesn't me ;))

Sorry to be so long winded but wanted to share...

Well quite frankly, we are going at Christmas and only started making ADR's late January, so we were happy to take either lunch or dinner!

As it were, when we were making the bookings we found lunch and dinner every day for ten days straight was completely booked out. Fortunately I checked it out a few days ago and got a Christmas Eve lunch slot at 12:55pm, perfect!

I think that even at the lunch price it is still worthy of a dining credit, we are spending less on dinner TS places on some nights! Hopefully the steaks aren't too small, although I assume some of the folks in our party might be ordering the set menu instead.

If I had been able to get a dinner slot I probably would've taken it, but I am still really looking forward to my Le Cellier lunch :)
