With 12 days to try to get into Le Cellier in late August there were NO dinner ADR's available any of the 12 days, early or late. We were lucky (I gather) to secure a lunch ADR. What should we expect and what do you recommend we do for a lunch at Le Cellier - we have never eaten there and are going based on the tremendous DIS recs.

We're in the same boat as you. We couldn't get any dinner reservations during our stay, so had to settle for lunch. I'm glad I at least go that. In the past, we have had lunch there and I really enjoy the Prime Rib French Dip with cheese soup. My DD8 loves it there because they offer steaks for kids and my DS6 says they have the best hot dogs around. The maple creme brulee and the raspberry sorbet are also outstanding.

We are thinking about doing a New York Strip this time and sharing since the kids get appetizers and desserts also and we can't eat all that food. Can't wait. YUMMMM!

Well first off the cheddar cheese soup is fantastic, we always order that when we eat there. Also the Grilled Petit Filet is very good, no fat and very tasty. We too had the maple creme brulee, it was one of the best creme brulees I've had at WDW. Everyone at the table was very pleased with there orders, its one of my families favorite restaurants at disney.
And here's a link to the menu, just in case you haven't seen it yet, you might find something else on the menu.

If you have kids with you (or an adult that's a kid at heart) order the chocolate moose off the kids' menu. It's so cute and so good. If you do a search on the food porn thread you'll see pictures of it. But the maple creme brulee is to die for. My mom and I ate dinner there last month and was going to share the dessert sampler. After taking one bite of the creme brulee my mom told me I could have the raspberry sorbet and choc cake, but the creme brulee was hers. I got my hand stabbed for trying to get a bite. For an appetizer I like the tomato stack or cheese soup. The petit filet is good. Their steak burger with mushrooms added is also good, but different. It's on an English muffin instead of a bun (and I believe their burgers are too). Just a warning. No way my GD would eat it.

Thanks, everyone! Shouldn't have read your replies before lunch! Sounds great.

We had lunch there last August. I had the cheese soup, which was very good, but a bowl was almost too much for me. I also had the beef tips in puff pastry with veggies. I looked for it's description on allearsnet, but I don't see it on their lunch menu now.
Our food was delicious and our service was very good. They even allowed me to take our stroller into the restaurant b/c my son was sleeping when we were seated.

This ended up being our favorite meal of our 10 night trip! We were also there for lunch. It was fantastic!! The filet was delicious!! I got the shrimp appetizer and it was a little spicier than I like, but I'm a wimp in that department ;) The bread was incredible. One of them tasted like a soft pretzel. The creme brulee was also tasty!! Thanks...now my MOUTH IS WATERING!!! My favorite filet, and we went to Yachtsman, and Narcoossees as well!

We are in the same boat for the last week in Sept, we were lucky to get a lunch ADR. We went last year for dinner and everyone liked it. I am hoping lunch is just as good. Are the portions the same size at lunch as they are at dinner?

Sorry, but I maybe the only person on this board to say, maybe try another place.

We've been there about 4 times in the hundreds of meals we've had at WDW. The food is good (not the rave that I read on the posts here), but we have had lots of issues with staff service. The place is rather dark and small and there are lots of people outside waiting to dine.

It's a nice place, but not a "must do" on our list.

If you don't try it, you won't know for yourself.

Enjoy.

I second the suggestion of the Prime Rib French Dip as it was very good!

However my family is one of the few that really dislike the cheese soup. It had a strong beer aftertaste to us and after a bite or two that was enough for us - yuck :stir:

We didn't save room for desert here last time and will be making sure to do so. The chocolate moose and the creme brulee :p

Another vote for the French Dip. Jeez, that was yummy. Then again, I could fill up on just the breadsticks alone. :teeth: And we always order a chocolate moose just because he's so darn cute.

We haven't had a problem with service there--our servers have always been very friendly and attentive.

Enjoy your trip!

We LOVE the cheddar Cheese soup and I have enjoyed the hamburger with blue cheese. The breadsticks are supper yummy!

I'm one of the exceptions ... we thought Le Cellier SUCKED . Great service; nice atmosphere; worst food we have ever eaten at WDW.

The Soup was vastly over-rated (Outback's is FAR better). The breadsticks are good. Dessert was the high point of the meal.

Personally, I would swap ADRs for Chefs de France ...

Last month I tried the crab roll (new on the menu) and did not care for it- had great service and DH had a great meal- the dessert sampler was wonderful. Everything else I have ever had here was very good.

Was the cheddar cheese soup similar to a cheese fondue? At the Melting Pot (a chain restaurant that serves fondue) they have a cheddar cheese/beer fondue, which is what I'm thinking the LeCellier cheese soup is like. Everyone seems to comment that they are using the bread to dip into the soup, which also makes me think it is "fondue-like". I am also one who is going to WDW in August, and I also could only get lunch ADRs at Le Cellier, so this thread is quite interesting.
