I know, a vegetarian at a steakhouse, what can I say?!?!

I'm actually a vegan all year round but "slip" a little when I'm in WDW, mostly b/c it's easier, but sometimes I can't resist some cheese. :rolleyes1

Anyway, is there anything to eat there? Will they make something for me? My daughter is also a vegetarian but it looks like they have cheese pizza or pasta there that she can eat.

Has anyone ever had the Sauteed Potato Gnocchi? That looks vegetarian at least? :confused3

I haven't been yet but I have an ADR for February! My daughters and I are pescetarian but actually don't eat a whole lot of seafood. I'm planning on trying the potato gnocchi and am really excited about it! My daughters love Caesar salad (yeah, I know, anchovies) so they'll share that and I'll get them the house Macaroni and cheese too. We don't do the DDP so that makes sense for us. Otherwise, if we were on the DDP they would get the kids pasta or the kids cheese pizza.

If you're going to indulge on cheese, I might skip Le Cellier and book Le Chefs de France and order the fancy mac & cheese there (officially called Gratin de Macaroni.) If you really want to try Le Cellier, it might be worth it to ask if they would serve an entree size portion of the mushroom risotto & pair it with some grilled asparagus.

Heehee...we WILL have a ADR at Chefs de France as well! It's on the list!

I was actually looking at their veggie lasagna...

I'm going to have to diet for the next 10 months so I can have room to gain all the weight I'm going to gain on this trip!

The lasagna at Chefs de France is really great! I highly recommend it!
But I'm also interested as to whether anyone has tried the gnocchi at Le Cellier, as I'm also vegetarian and will be dining there in January.

They have a tomato appetizer at Le Cellier that is pretty good. I can't imagine it's not vegan? (unless they shave a little cheese on top)

I saw that video where Der Fuhrer said the gnocchi was exquisite :lmao:

I think I'd like to try it now, but I'll never get in there.

MMMM! That's an idea too! Maybe I'll do the gnocchi with a side of the mushroom risotto! Yum, carbs!

The "veggies" in my family found good things to eat here. One paired the tomato stack appetizer with a field greens salad, one loved the gnocchi, and one -- who does eat seafood -- had scallops. All pronounced everything delish.

And of course, there is always the creme brulee and chocolate "moose"!:cool1:

I had a veggie plate there with asparagus, risotto, and something else that I can't remember right now.

Haha but don't go to the Electric Umbrella...

Im sure the Gnocchi would be a great choice actually. But their cream cheese mashed potatoes and cheddar soup without bacon could be yummy

We ate at Les Chefs a year ago, or so. My wife ordered the vegetable lasagna and my son got the gratin de macaroni. I remember tasting both my wife's lasagna and finishing up the boy's mac 'n cheese. They were both really good. I also remember that the risotto, which a previous poster mentioned, was outstanding. I have no idea what my entree was.

I don't know what your dietary rules entail, but don't forget that the most popular three ingredients in french cooking are butter, butter and butter. While I could make a fine risotto with vegetable stock, I've always used butter. But I don't have any experience cooking for vegetarians. I'm sure the chef could advise you better.

While a vegetarian would likely be okay with butter, a vegan wouldn't be. I'd wonder if the Le Cellier gnocchi doesn't contain butter also, at least in the sauce.

FYI - the cheese soup at Le Cellier has more than bacon as an issue as it also has chicken stock.

That's too bad. I figured as much, but this was something I was hoping to try if I could get it without the bacon.. Ah well. I'll just stick to my strawberry soup from 1900 Park Fare. :thumbsup2

A vegetarian couldn't eat the creme brulee and a vegan couldn't eat either. Dairy in both and gelatin in the creme brulee. ;)

I have had two FANTASTIC vegetarian meals at Le Cellier. Yes, it is a steak house, but they are very accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to go.

The first time, I wasn't sure about some of the sauces on the one veg entree, and the chef came out and talked to me. They were served on the side, but the sauces were still fantastic. The second time, there was a butternut squash ravioli dish, and I'm not a fan of butternut squash. So, again, the chef came out and told me what he could do instead. Again, fantastic.

As a side note, they accommodated DD, too. She didn't like anything on the kids' menu (she was 3), and they made the best grilled cheese that I've ever tasted. They just had us choose from what they had in the kitchen (English muffin and Canadian white cheddar). I was so impressed how they accommodated her, and I still dream about that sandwich.

We are going again next week! DH is not a vegetarian, and he really enjoys LC, too.

Even though it could change (and seems to seasonally), check the menu and you can get an idea.

Enjoy!
