Le Cellier for lunch with 5 year old?

I have really wanted to try Le Cellier ever since reading about it on disboards for our trip 2 years ago, but it didn't fall into the plans...

This summer, DH, DS, and I are going. It looks like DH will have to go back to work and leave DS and I a day for ourselves. We are most likely going to Epcot that day (no park hoppers).

I reserved a lunch at Le Cellier for DS and I, but I am wondering if it would be too "boring" and not Disney enough for me and a 5 year old? We both like steak, but we can get steak at a thousand restaurants in the Atlanta area.

Is Biergarten fun? Is the food really good there?

Since your DS is a 5 yr old and you can get steak at a thousand restaurants in the Atlanta area, I suggest Biergarten. The food is good, it is buffet style and he can pick what he wants. Add in the entertainment and Biergarten it is.

It's not themed, just a regular restaurant with seats close together. When were were there we saw a table with 2 small children, around 5 and 7 with their grandparents. They were well behaved and didn't seem to have a bad time but their grandparents talked to them and kept them interest most the time. If you want to go, there's no reason your son wouldn't be able to go but if you are looking for something a bit entertaining there has to be something better than LC.

It's definitely not an entertaining place or anything, but my kids (5 &7) look forward to eating there. They love the steak, pretzel bread sticks, and chocolate "moose" dessert.

If you are eating at other fun places (characters, etc.) in addition to Le Cellier, then I say go for it. But if it's between Le Cellier and some place fun for the kids that they might miss, then do that. In Epcot, Coral Reef and Garden Grill are hits with kids and Teppan Edo, Biergarten, Akershus, and the restaurant in Morocco are all entertaining as well.

Kids loved the pretzel bread and the moose dessert- hated the mac and cheese. We loved the steak and so we will go back even though other meals are more fun.

it's not very disney or kid special imo. i really like it, but wanted something else for the kids. it's in teh 'cellar' so it's pretty dark too.

I took my 2 year old, 5 and 7 year old niece and nephew there.. and this time in May we have a late lunch booked on Mother's Day with our now 5 year old.. It isn't a favorite kid spot, but it is a favorite mom spot, and with SO many of the meals we are having being catered towards our son, I am not changing it.. he can deal with it.. lol

We've been there twice, DS was 4 the first time and 5 the second time. He did great both times, the first was just he and I. We chatted and if I remember correctly he drew on the kiddie menu. I told him before we went it how I expected him to behave. He usually behaves without me saying anything. I just felt Le Cellier was a little nicer than some of the other restaurants and wanted to remind him how a little gentleman would act. I would keep the ressie and enjoy dinner with your little man!

I've taken my kids twice for lunch. Once when they were 2 and 6 and then 3 and 7. I like it cause its the one calm meal we have. I still can remember my 2 year old telling me "you can do it mommy" as I was cutting up his hotdog and the table next to us laughing. I would say go for it...you won't regret it!

I wanted to go to Le Cellier strictly for the delicious food, and it did not disappoint! If you want a good quality meal, then stick with it. Otherwise I'd suggest Teppan Edo as a fun alternative. You can get steak there too, and the chef's are very animated and entertaining. My boys really enjoyed that better.

We plan on it in Sept with a 5 and 2 yo. It's one meal that the adults (6 of us) in the party are really looking forward too. My DH is not a Disney man so I had to promise him some restaurant choices and this is one, the other is Boma.

I'd say keep your ressie. After eating there for the first time this past trip we will be returning. Yes, it's not a "fun" place but the food is so good. Plus, it's nice to have a nice relaxing dinner/lunch once in awhile!

We went to LC with our 3DS and 6DD and they loved it - ate alot. Like others said, no characters or special theming but it is a good meal.

Our last trip, we ate there for lunch w/our 4.5 yr & 1 yr old DSs. our 4.5 yr old DS loved it b/c he said it looked like a castle inside. He's into medieval knights & stuff like that, so he thought it was cool to eat there.
Biergarten is fun w/the band & the kids playing on the dance floor. Being buffet though may be more challenging w/just you & your DS.

Go if you like the food. There's nothing else there. No entertainment for children, and it's not a particularly themed room (unless you like cellar theming)

Many visits to the parks are just me and the kids (with DH at seminars all day). I have taken them on my own since they were 3yoa (they are 8 now). We have great memories of Le Cellier, they drew on the kiddie menus and enjoyed the atmosphere and food, and there are always enough people around so the noise of the people won't make you feel like they have to be really quiet during the meal.
