We booked a last minute lunch at le Cellier. We have two children, ages 9 and 5. We are using our Table Service credit.

I've never been on the DDP before. Help me understand it a little better please.

So, if I read the plan correctly, my children can order an appetizer but DH and I cannot? Can they also order dessert?

My head is spinning trying to understand what we can and cannot get at each restaurant.

TIA!

Your children can get a child's appetizer- generally a bowl of soup (child size) or carrots or the like- it will probably not be anything available off the adult menu as an appetizer. They will also get to choose a kids dessert(again not the same as an adult dessert- most places it is make your own ice cream sundae).

Kids get their choice of two kids appetizers and also dessert. I looked at the menu on another website and it looks like there are also two kids meals that come with a vegetable that is in place of the appetizer. So confusing I know but it's straightforward when you are looking at the menu itself.

There is also a prix-fixed 3 course adult choice, in addition to the regular menu in which you can also chose an appetizer. You get the appetizer but your entree is limited to a few choices so if the one you want is on that list anyway, that's a good way to go.

Don't worry, it seemed confusing to me the first time also but it was so easy to figure it out when we were there actually using it.

We've eaten there many times - always on the regular dining plan.

My boys always order:

-raspberry chocolate shake for their drink (or milk, or soda)

-cheddar cheese soup or carrot sticks with ranch for their appetizer

-steak and french fries for their entree

-ice cream sundae for dessert

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for the replies. I now understand the children's choices.

So if the adults order the pre-fixed option, you get the appetizer. But if I order one of the other entrees, I won't be able to order an appetizer?

TIA!

You can order whatever you want, it's just that you may have to pay out-of-pocket for things that you order that are not covered by the dining plan. Don't know if the apps are covered at Le Cellier.

Thank you!

one more question so I don't have to start a new thread.

I booked two restaurants on each day because I am still trying to plan what we are doing. How far in advance do I need to cancel the other restaurants?

I would cancel as soon as you know your plans that way it opens up reservations for other people who may be needing them. Hope you have a great time at Le Cellier!!

My kids are 9 and 7 and really enjoy Le Cellier. Our past trip we were on the DxDP so we all got an app, entree, and desert. My kids got the cheddar cheese soup, their entree of choice, and then for desert they had their ice cream but then shared my DH's smore's desert with him.

I have never eaten here with kids but always see kids in the restaurant and they seem to be finding something they enjoy. I always see them getting the smores dessert and I can't blame them.

I wish they would offer that dessert for the kids on the dining plan. We always ordered one OOP so the kids could share it along with the ice cream that is included.

I would drop them ASAP. It is technically agianst Disney policy to do this, and there have been reports here of reservations being "autocancelled" when Disney sees a double booking. Ex. A person has 2 dinner reservations for the same night at 2 different places. A CM sees this and cancels one of them. Soem CM's are claiming that te computer does this automatically. Plus, I don't think it is fair to those scrambling for ressies to hold on to double bookings. It hard enough to find an ADR these days without people holding on to 2, 3 or more for a singel meal! Sorry, but this really ,really bugs me! I have seen people post that they make an ADR at every park for every day, and use the one for whatever park they happen to be in at dinner time!

We made our 7 year old an adult on the dining plan this year because of how limited the kids menus are at so many places. She is an adventerous eater, and there are only so many times she can eat chicken nuggets in a week!

(Bolding is mine)

Have to agree with this - lots of folks sweat their ADR's and have to check on a daily basis when they can't get a desired ADR. I'd cancel the extras ASAP.

Have a great vacation!
