Do you think its as special for Canadians as it seems to be for evryone else? Wondering because I'm going to need to book for dining soon and am unsure if Le Cellier is just another steakhouse like we would have in Toronto.

It is just a steakhouse....however we think the food is excellent. We usually make a reservation there every other vacation or so. Love their pretzel bread (which i haven't had in Canada) and the cheddar/beer soup (which i also haven't ordered in Canada).

Steakhouse with a Canadian slant...whatever that is!

hmmmmm, i'd rather try the Yachtsman than battle for Le Cellier.

That's why I have no interest in Le Cellier - the Keg is an awesome steakhouse, not to mention Hy's! There are so many other interesting places to eat at Epcot that going to a Canadian restaurant just isn't going to make it onto our dining list kwim? ;) Of course, this is just my opinion (and my dh's opinion) :flower3:

It depends on what you are looking for. It is not fine dining, they get you in and out fairly quickly.
By Disney standards the prices are fairly reasonable for what you get. We have always had a good meal there but it is crowded and there can be a lot of families.
In terms of style I feel it has more of a Quebec flair to it and it certainly is not just a steakhouse. If you have not, check the menus on allears.net.
If we can get a reservation we generally go but I would not check every day to try and get one.

We really enjoyed this meal at WDW. One of our favorites. I liked the options for the children, to give them some variety, we are a meat and potatoes family!! PEI!!

Went for lunch, had an early ADR (first time of the day available) so restaurant wasn't super crowded, which most restaurants are at WDW. In fact I would book this time over supper anyday to not have the crowds in the restaurants.

We were up early for that day, EMH, rode many rides in FW, then were able to head over and enjoy a yummy meal in the first pavillion of WS. So not a long walk.

I would reccommend it. And will go back.

We went to WDW about 100x before trying Le Cellier LOL...It's good. Would I go out of my way to dine there ...no.

Interesting! We've been there 2x and will try it on free dining. I wonder if we'd try it without free dining...

We like it and always are sure to go. Our ds LOVES it..it is his favorite place to eat at WDW. He gets a kick out of seeing where all the cm's are from and chatting with them..they once did trivia while waiting for the table to be called and he rocked it-they quickly figured out why he was able to answer all the questions..not hard if you are a CND!

We never miss it and think the food is better than most restaurants at WDW.

As my teenager would say, it was a 'meh'. Tried it once, food was ok, wait was ridiculous. Many other places we prefer.

We try to dine there as it is a great deal when you buy the meal plan or are on free dining. Last time we were there we were talking to a castmember from British Columbia and as it turned out, he was the son of a friend of my wife 9through work) before they moved out to the west coast years ago. It is a small world after all.

I'm not a big fan of Le Cellier, nor am I a big fan of their menu.

We've probably eaten there five, six times, and after the first time it's been a chore to get 'up' to go there. (I think the cheese soup is disgusting and if I remember correctly, the first time I had it, I wouldn't swallow it and it went back in to the bowl. But DW thinks it's just great, so go figure. :) )

If you just want a 'steakhouse', somebody has already posted that they'd do The Yachtsman Steakhouse and I have to agree. Far superior.

We're going in October during free dining, and we actually got ADRs for supper, much to my dismay.

Jim.

We have eaten there at least 30x. My husband loves the steak. I think it's okay. I do, however, think it's better than places like The Keg. But I think sometimes the hype is a little overboard. But the food is good. But for reference, for those of you who live in Toronto, it doesn't even compare to the steaks at Harbor 60....not even close. My husband likes his steak blue (:crazy2:) and Harbour 60 is the only one that can do it perfectly (according to him). I will agree though since I like my steak Medium, and in most cases, Le Cellier has always overcooked it, since I'm okay with it, I rarely send it back.

We ate there several times before the inception of the DDP and (imo) it seemed to be the same in food quality. But, according to my husband, it's gotten a little worse and he remembers the portion sizes to be larger then. I guess I may agree with him on this point. I could never finish the steak or prime rib before...now, no problem. :confused3

I do love the breads and the creme brulee. However, I know a lot of people, including my husband, loves the Cheddar cheese soup, I found I didn't like the aftertaste:scared:.

I think you would enjoy it if you are able to get an ADR. We used to get 2 ADRs per trip but for our August trip I was only able to get one.

I blame the new system. Last year, I booked my ADRs 6 months in advance (since we don't participate in Free Dining - we use our DVC membership), I was able to get 2 Le Celliers on our trip. Not this time, because I had to wait until 3 months prior and the Free Dining was already announced, I had a difficult time getting the ones I wanted.

Another vote for Yachtman over Le Cellier. However, I think that there is also a price difference associated. We tried both when on the dining plan so I don't remember costs specifically.

We would happily eat at either again !

We love the cheddar cheese soup..it is the ONLY soup our teenager will eat..go figure! Came home with the recipe this time..lol

Though to compare apples with apples, while Harbour 60 steak is much better than Le Cellier (and most other steakhouses in Canada - and I've eaten at many of them), the price you pay at Harbour 60 is much more than you'd pay at Le Cellier.

Sorry to say but we had a really terrible meal at the Yachtman's steakhouse the last time we were there.

I remember paying a TON for my steak and it was bland and tasteless. In fact the one side was kind of burnt and they turned it over so that I wouldn't see that part of the steak. Our DS 9 had the kids steak. He got 1/4 the way through it and stopped eating which surprised me as he'll eat almost anything. It was full of grizzle. I gave it a couple of bites and it was disgusting. Our server really didn't care when we voiced our concerns and there was no mention of taking it off our bill. For a $100+ meal I was so disappointed in the food and the service. We won't go back and are looking forward to trying Le Cellier for the first time in August.

Really? We went to the Yachtsman last December for the 1st time and the meal was outstanding. We had a wonderful server, her name escapes me--she was Asian and delightful! Went out of her way to please..we were on the Free Dining so what the cost was I don't recall but it was a great experience. I guess no one place can be tops at all times? I had never had an issue with having something taken off of the bill at Disney:confused3
