Le Cellier favorite food

We went in 2005 (during free dining)

My son --at adult age had the mussels as an appetizer. He loved them. He hardly ate his entree. His entree was a chicken but he substituted the sides to have mashed potatoes.

I got the cheese plate --which is no longer an appetizer. I got (I think ) the mushroom filet. I had a chocolate cake dessert.

DH got cheddar cheese soup, some steak (which he loved) and a different dessert.

DD--got a kids meal plate. She enjoyed the bread as well.

I love the cheese soup and the mushroom filet! The creme brulee is wonderful, though I'm usually to stuffed to even think about dessert!:)

The Cheddar soup and pretzel bread...

And this sounds crazy because the filet was very good but I liked the cream cheese mashed potatoes better than anything at all. They were SO good.

We got a lunch cancellation for Sept. Dinner was too much to hope for. Looking at the menu, the steaks/filets are smaller at lunch than at dinner.

Were the portions small at lunch? Or were they plenty?

Also, has anyone's child had the chicken or steak? Reviews?

My favorite is the Beef Barley Soup(I'm not a big cheese fan) it is rich and very tasty, of course the pretzel bread and I'm not a steak eater but I was afraid to order anything else b/c they are known for steaks-the steak with the BBQ sauce is really good and now I get it every time.

As for the lunch vs dinner portions, I was as stuffed at lunch as I was at dinner.:goodvibes

I actually like the burger with the english muffin type bun, and I agree the asparagus is really good.

I have to have the chocolate moose too. I love the cheese soup too but I try to cut down on salt so my mom and I split one, you should see the waiter when you ask for an extra bowl to split the soup, its not a huge portion to begin with, but still its way too much salt for me.

We havent had dinner there in a couple years but have gone to lunch instead

Cheddar Cheese Soup and pretzel bread....
Mushroom Filet....mmmm the risotto is to die for

My mouth is already watering for my Aug 30 ADR when I get to have the cheese soup, Maple BBQ Filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes and Chocolate Whiskey cake (Which I will likely be too full to eat, so I will take it to go (without the orange sauce) and eat it for breakfast. That's what I did last year anyhow:thumbsup2

now I'm hungry!

Food! Glorious food!! We have lunch ressies in August (forget the date - my mind is a sieve these days). Can't wait to try the cheese soup (exactly how salty is it?). I'm also going to try the seared salmon salad. I lost 8 pounds so far so lunch will put them back on!!!:rotfl2:

The mushroom filet like everyone else says and the sorbet for desert. I am not a sweet eater but that sorbet was awesome. My mother had the creme brulee and can't stop talking about how good all the food was. She works in a very upscale Westin hotel restaurant so she is a tough customer.

I've been to Le Cellier twice, and am going for a third time this September. I think I may order the same exact meal I had the first time I went there; the cheddar cheese soup, maple-bbq filet mignon, and then the maple creme brulee, (except it is now a sampler,) for dessert.

What do you enjoy at Le Cellier, we're going for the first time this trip and I'm wondering what a favorite menu item is. Also, can you suggest something light for my mother? She likes soups/salads, etc.
My dh loves the herb crusted prime rib---however that isn't light. He said the cheese soup was good also. I just had a ny strip and it was great. We go every trip.

Filet and pretzel breadsticks. (One of the best steaks I ever ate, and I couldn't believe how good the pretzel breadsticks were!) I'm not a big fan of the cheddar cheese soup, though.
