Le Cellier fans - a question

For dinner at Le Celiier, which filet do you recommend? I keep hearing how good the filet is but there is a mushroom one and one with BBQ sauce. Have you had both? Which did you prefer?

I prefer the mushroom filet. The bbq sauce seems to overpower the flavor of the meat, IMO. Also, the mushroom filet comes with that wonderful risotto. Mmmmmmm. I love it! Only 5 months until I can order it.

I've heard great things about the mushroom filet, but DH and I don't like mushrooms so we ordered the Barb. filet and loved it. Linda

I vote for the bbq! I love the maple bbq sauce and the cream cheese mashed potatoes. But I'm a sauce kind of person so I love the bbq. I get extra so I can dip my potatoes in it too.

Yummy!! The steak was absolutely perfect...melt in your mouth!! Now my mouth is watering!! hehehe

I've had both and I agree with a previous poster - I feel the sauce is a little too overpowering. Although the mashed potatoes that come with it are delish! Guess you could ask them to go light on the sauce.

I really enjoyed the mushroom filet especially with the risotto (just wonderful)!

I've only been once, but had the mushroom filet...it was SO good! The risotto was an added bonus (I love risotto). Several people in our party didn't like their meals, but they didn't have the mushroom filet, which is Le Cellier's signature dish...I would definitely go back for that filet...

We get the one with BBQ sauce, but hold the sauce.

They are still delicious!

Mushroom...droooool. After DH and I took our first bites, it became one of those "can'ttalkmusteat" dinners

As for the other steak, someone's gonna have to explain if this is a glaze or actual thick BBQ sauce. I can't imagine why someone would kill a steak by pouring such a thick, sweet sauce on it, but a glaze I might be able to understand.

I agree with the others that the BBQ sauce takes away from the wonderful filet flavor. We LOVE the mushroom filet. We go to LeCellier every trip just for that.

We are kind of BBQ snobs where I live. I can't imagine putting BBQ sauce on a steak. Thanks for the reviews.

I tend to like my steak plain and simple, a few seasonings that's it. So, I ordered the BBQ filet, with the BBQ on the side. The filet itself was wonderful and I actually REALLY liked it with a bit of the BBQ sauce, which surprised me. I'd probably order it again that way though, just so I could control the amount of sauce on it. The potatoes are wonderful!!
