Le cellier ambiance...

They say a picture (or pictures) is worth a thousand words.

Plenty of space... LOL

You have to love the seat that poor couple has in the right of the picture.

I still stand behind my opinion it's dark, cramped and drab... Just my opinion and my own experience... I would say nobody is really wrong, just different viewpoints.

It is dark, but less so than San Angel Inn, which I think requires a headlamp to see. Atmosphere is a crowded cellar. When we ate as a party of 4, the table next to us was inches away. I could easily steal food off of their plates.

You are correct, San Angel Inn is crowded, dark and has tables stacked on top of each other as well, but the big difference is they are not as expensive and they are not selling themselves as a "Signature" restaurant. For me that's a big deal when I choose a signature.

It doesn't have ambiance. It's like a dark underground living room full of tables. My group of 6 had a nice conversation about beer with the couple at the next table.

When Le Cellier went signature, the only thing that changed was the menu. Nothing about the space itself changed. But I do love to go for appetizers and beer. I would not order an entrée there.

I think its crowded and noisy. The food is OK. If you are used to eating at true high end steak houses elsewhere, you will be disappointed. Disney is great at taking mediocre meals and convincing us that it is "5-star". People that rave about the food have mostly likely never had a good, true, Prime cut steak. Used to be an every-trip booking for us, ate there a couple of months ago and had same feeling as before - not next time. Maybe try it again in a few trips.

We literally went last week and I thought it was very good, our server was super friendly and helpful, food was good and I didn't feel like it was crowded. We were on a table for 4, as a party of 2 though so maybe it just felt like more space and although it was dark, it wasn't exactly an issue. We had the onion poutine, filet and creme brulee all of which I would happily eat again.

Those pictures actually make it look better than some of you are making it sound.:duck: I haven't been there yet, but I will be able to make my own opinion next month. Can't wait! :yay:

I haven't eaten at Le Cellier since 2013, but when we did the food was very good. However, we had a lot of issues including a dirty bathroom, dirty silverware (gross), a non-attentive server, and our 7:00 pm ADR took so long that we missed Illuminations.

I think it is one of those places that is just hit or miss. But for signature dining, I personally want it to be a little more consistent.

I've been there and those pictures remind me why I love it. I love the ceilings and the lighting. :)

See, it's amazing how differently people talk about it! These two comments (which I much appreciate) really tell the story!

I'll tell the story but keep it short. We checked in. Waited 10 min after our ADR went back the hostess that had an attitude since the beginning said our table was not ready yet. Waited another 20 min same response although the she had seat most of the parties that came around the same time including one that were clearly her friends. Finally another hostess comes out we ask and she says we had been seated 30 min ago! We wait another 15 min to get our table ready. Get seated, order and then I get a hair on my salad :crazy2:. At this point no one even apologize to us. We ask for the manger, which wasn't apologetic at all and just tells me we they are not going to charge me for the salad! Mind you I didn't even take one bite because I saw the hair as I was going to. So heck no I wasn't going to pay for a salad with hair. Add the atmosphere, mediocre food (which everyone party of 5 agreed)price and terrible service. We are never going back.

How our experiences differ!

We've never waited more than 10 minutes after our ADR. We always wait outside and go in when they come outside and call our name. Out party of four has always had luck to be seated in a corner. We do think the tables are close together, but think that of many establishments this side of the pond. We've also never had a bad server, but it may have to do with the fact that part of our party is Canadian and we can always banter about that. Our favorites are the pretzel bread and signature mushroom filet. We like to eat just a main course there, perhaps and appetizer but skip dessert. Not that dessert at Le Cellier is bad, but it pales in comparison to the ice cream I can get in l'Artisan des Glaces (to be fair, almost everything does).

I only have one story of anything going wrong here - One time, the waitress noticed my sister not eaten half of her filet. Upon asking why. my sister said it had been cooked a bit too rare. But because she had already eaten a bit of it, she felt bad sending it back and now that dinner was basically over, she didn't want another. The waitress comped all of our drinks (and we weren't drinking cheap!).

Usually we eat, drink and are very merry! We feel the atmosphere is very conducive to this. It's a must do for us every time.

I'd like the atmosphere if it were less crowded. For that price - I expect a better dining experience. Like others, I felt WAY to close to my fellow diners - we could hear them better than ourselves across the table. We also had a LONG wait (like 45 minutes past our ADR time) and terrible service. For a steakhouse - I expect top-notch service and environment for the price. The food was "fine" - but we won't be back. Chop $10 off entree prices - and it would be great. My expectations would change at a slightly lower price point.
