What's your opinion of the ambiance at Le Cellier? I've read totally divergent things - some people seemed to really enjoy it, other said it was dark/crowded/noisy.

We're just going for the poutine and the experience, and if the experience isn't great, then we might just skip it.

Just ate there tonight. Fabulous. Best meal we've had all week and that includes California Grill and Yachtsman. Great service, great ambiance and the food was amazing. Highly, highly recommend. Poutine was pretty darn good too.

Yeah it is dark I don't particularly find the atmosphere there anything special. Going for wine cellar theming is not the best theming Disney has put out. The worst service and expirience that we had at WDW.

See, it's amazing how differently people talk about it! These two comments (which I much appreciate) really tell the story!

If I want a wine cellar theming...I go for our local, award winning German restaurant. I have never eaten here because I like windows and consistent reviews. For a signature restaurant, it should have a view. I have "tasted" the beer cheese soup and we have better in bumflip wisconsin pubs.

My DH and DS love the steak, and I think the setting is nice, not your same old restaurant. We had good service, and I had a great chicken ceaser salad since I am not a steak person, and loved the pretzel bread. It is must do for DH and DS every trip, but since it is a 2 credit now for lunch and dinner, we split up for that meal, and DD and I do something special, like Akershus last time.

i'll be going there for the first time with my sister in september.
i'm a bit worried it may be too dark fro me now that i'm reading this.
i'm visually impaired and have terrible night vision.
it does adjust after a while though. hope i'll be able to see my meal.
is it a lot darker than san angel inn? i found that to be quite dark but bearable after a little while and thats how i feel about mexico in general.

It isn't dark in there, at least it wasn't when we went! It was regularly lit. Artist Point (dinner) is more dimly lit in my opinion than Le Cellier.

San Angel and Sci-Fi Dive In are probably the most dimly lit restaurants at Disney.

It is not that dark. You have the feeling of being underground in a wine cellar, but the lighting was fine, not super bright, but not like you need a flashlight. Agree with PP that Sci- Fi, which we love, is very difficult to read a menu in, and I did need the flashlight app on my phone! But it is supposed to be a drive-in, so I can't complain!

I find it crowded, tight, and darkish. I like dimly lit restaurants, but I did not like Le Cellier.
If all you want is the Poutine, there is a new restaurant in DS that offers it.

It is indeed dark, cramped with tables stacked one on top of the other and can get quit loud. For me the place is rather drab. And while there have been some positive comments about the food on this thread, to each their own. For me I would rate their steaks right their with an Outback or Longhorn... For me when you add up the boring decor and the very average steaks, Le Cellier is my lowest ranked signature restaurant in WDW.

Some people say crowded, cramped and dark. I say warm, cozy and intimate. :)

We really enjoyed our meal here, but I did find the food very salty after the fact. We went for lunch and I was so thirsty the rest of the day.

I didn't mind the lighting, but it was very crowded. I felt like we were eating dinner with the table next to us. They were complaining about EVERYTHING (like the vodka options), so it really negatively affected our experience.

If you like sitting on top of your fellow diners it's great. You will be able to clearly see everything they ordered and hear every word of their conversation. Heck you could probably just reach over and help yourself to their food.

Food was not good, service was not good, atmosphere was not good. Prices extremely high!

I gave this place a couple of chances, learn from my errors!

it has been years since we have been to LC. The last time was too awkward with mediocre food. The table we were at was so close to the table next to us, felt like we were at the same table.

It does not feel like a signature experience to me

Check out videos on youtube. Here's one:

I agree with this review 100%. This is on the bottom of my list of signatures as well.

:lmao: :rotfl2: This is funny. And of course I agree with this. I couldnt believe how close the tables were to eachother. Yes you could reach out and put your arm around the person next to you, and yep, even grab their food.

This is key. It really does NOT feel like a signature experience to me either. My strip steak wasnt that great to be honest. Quite a disappointment.

I didn't think that it was overly dark... or crowded. I was more into my food and wine to notice  I really thought the food was delicious!

It is funny how people's experiences are so different. I thought the room was nicely dim, not too dark, and it wasn't very loud. We sat very close to the table next to us, but I don't remember listening to them. Maybe we were having too much fun as this was the night we sent the kids to the Sandcastle club! We ordered the Signature Poutine, and it was amazing. Our waitress was also very prompt and informative. She recommended her favorite items, which were spot-on. I am going back in December (assuming I can get reservations!). :)
