Am I correct that Beach/Yacht Club are the only resorts with a lazy river? My daughter loves them and I am trying to avoid the waterparks (although we do love them)......Beach/Yacht Club are booked for our dates so I was hoping there may be another resort that has one. If not, I'll be checking for a cancellation :)

Bonnet Creek has a lazy river, but it isn't a Disney-owned resort, it is on Disney property though.

Yes SAB is the only disney pool with a lazy river. It also has the beat slide on property imo. Its like u have your own little water park at your resort! Good luck!

Yep I think SAB is all u got.......,..............Just an fyi.to think of. We stayed in BWV this past August. Which we loved there pool area. We did have friends who stayed over in YC. We visited 1 night over there & I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I was sooo looking forward to seeing this place but after trying to follow my twins ( who were 9 at the time & good swimmers) around their lazy river portion of the pool was nightmare. The current is enough to get you around yes but the problem is that if you get out/ fall out of your tube, it's hard to get back in. Even for me. And I'm 6'2". Typical lazy rivers usually are only 3-4 ft deep max. These are 8 ft i believe. So there's no pushing off the bottom to come up through the tubes.

Once we got back to the main area I had to put a stop that unfortunately.

The other thing i didn't like was when they wanted to go on the water slide. You have to exit the pool area, go across the MAIN Path and then proceed to the top.. Kinda odd if u ask me.

All in all the place is nice and the pool area with the water volleyball was good too. I just wasnt able to relax thats all I'm saying.

If you do t mind a non Disney resort the Hilton Bonnet Creek has an awesome lazy river.

You said it perfectly - the pool is not the best place for kids and Disney would definitely not build a pool like SAB anymore. Honestly, I've never understood the hype about the pool - we prefer the pools at AKL or BWV more. We find SAB to be too narrow and too long -- i.e. it's difficult to walk around to the other side at times. And yes, it is very difficult to watch young children due to the layout..

The "lazy river" at Stormalong Bay is really a swift, deep little loop. Like DizDaD7 said, it is very deep (8 feet deep) with a very swift current. Unless your eight year old is a very good swimmer, she could have problems. This swift loop is nothing at all like the lazy rivers at the water parks. I really enjoy those. I did not like the loop at SAB. The swift current really surprises you and you can get pulled into the current and into the deep water.

Tubes must be rented at SAB (you cannot bring or use your own) and you really need a tube on that loop.

SAB is my least favorite pool at WDW.

If you plan to add park hopping the water parks is only another $22. I agree with the others SAB has a fake lazy river and I wouldn't let my DD in it. Much rather go to the water parks.

Just for the sake of excruciating correctness, Bonnet Creek is not on Disney Property, although you must travel through Disney property to get there.

I agree with several previous posters regarding SAB. It gets rave reviews, but our kids are young (5 and 2) and it can be a nerve-wracking place. We own DVC and our home resort is BWV. Much prefer that pool. The slide is great and I can see the kids at all times. To get a true lazy river, you will have to go to a water park.

I agree with the others, nothing lazy about the swift current loop at SAB and the deepness of it, really catches people off guard.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. If the 4 of us go, we will do the waterparks & more package but if it is just my daughter and myself I'd rather not as ALL she wants to do there is the lazy river. Kind of depends of who all is going....she REALLY wants to stay at AKL and we are booked at Pop. I did check Bonnett Creek and they are booked for our dates.

I don't have kids, my daughters are adults now, but we use pool noodles in the SAB lazy river. If I had young ones, I'd have them wear a PFD because of the deepness.
I love SAB, and all the different areas are fun to explore. But again, I don't have young ones to worry about chasing around, so I have a different view.

Thanks everyone! I can't believe the lazy river is so deep, that scares me......in fact I don't think she would want that once I explain it to her.....dang it! The pool at BWV does look awesome for sure......got a lot of thinking to do........
