My BF has been hinting for one of these. I have a bonus coming at the end of the month so I thought I would surprise him.

Recommendations? Brand, model #'s, etc.

I was looking a these last week. Our LaZBoy store is in the midst of a clearance sale. The prices were good, but I can't get DH to go to the store to try one out. The salesperson recommended that HE be the one to try it out. I think I'm going to go tonight and pick one out that fits ME!! They have a dizzying array of choices and it's my understanding that they are guaranteed for life (the inner workings, that is). My sister has one that she inherited from her FIL. It's about 35 years old and they came and picked it up to fix the innards for FREE.

I got DH one for our third anniversary. It is holding up quite well. We got the oversize one because of his height. Have you been to the lazyboy.com site? You can better see the options there.

I think we got a "contemporary" one. It rocks, swivels, reclines, etc. We went with cloth, but a soft leather would be nice, too.

Donna - yes I went to their site. No price ranges though. I am trying to get an idea on the net about how much they should cost before I start traipsing all over Mass. trying to find one LOL

I've had mine for 5 years now. It is a LaZBoy, Model 103554. It swivels and rocks and is over-sized. I think it probably fits in the 'casual' category.

I love it. :) (I'm sitting in it right now!)

We actually got one for my wife too - they were having a 2-for-1 sale. We often kick back together. :)

jipsy, i can tell you the price range is huge. they had clearance ones from about 350.00. i think regular price is about 500-800. not cheap!

Jips -

Mike said he recommends the leather recliner at Brookstone ;)

Jenz tell Mike I'll gladly accept it when he has it delivered here

LOL

I put your zip in to their "find a dealer"-- you can go browse around here or telephone.

This dealer offers the following services: Design Center, American Home, Screen Test Video

We were lucky-- there is an actual LazyBoy Store about 5 miles away.

We were just in a LaZBoy shop this weekend in CT and I fell in love with one in particular that we noticed AFTER the fact is "designed FOR women, BY women." :p This was after I claimed that the thing was the most comfrortable chair I've ever sat in. It's got a cutesy name... like "Celestial" or something.

:) I know you're looking for one for your BF, but I know we'll fight like siblings over ONE, so I'm entertaining the thought of TWO! :teeth:

(And yes, there's definitely a huge clearance going on right now! So now's your chance!)

You know what the sad thing is.....one of the Lazy Boy factories is in Leland which is the next town over from me. They are terrified that they will end up closing the plant down. They are doing really badly right now. I don't know how many plants there are world wide but this one is on the verge of closing.

We have a big ole' Lazy Boy rocker/recliner that has to be 8 years old. It's held up incredibly well. DH plops down in it every night, and it's just as comfy as always. The fabric is just starting to show some wear.

I'd buy another Lazy Boy in a heartbeat.

We sell La Z Boys that range from 249-799. You may also want to look at Berkline as well. They also have impressive warranties and from everything I've been able to determine at least as good as La Z Boy if not better. We easily sell more Berkline than Lazboy.

We have 2 La-Z-Boy rocker recliners, mine oversized. VERY comfortable, have slept many a night there, LOL. :teeth: We also have a La-Z-Boy sofa-sleeper and a regular sofa. All four pieces are in our family room. Obviously, we are happy with the product, would buy again. We have several La-Z-Boy factory stores here in the Chicago area.

we sat in I swear every sofa and chair in the show room
there was not one lazyboy sofa that I though was comfortable enough - MIL has one & I hate the way it sits
In laws swear by them also have 3 lazyboy chairs
I definitely would let him sit in it because DH & I are built differently and pick different chairs for comfort
we settled on a Lane reclining sectional and it is the most comfortable sofa I've ever sat it
I love it and almost can't help falling a sleep when I sit in it
We also hate Berkline reclining sofas - yuck they sit hard

When we got our family room furniture almost 5 years ago we got Lazyboy--I'm pretty happy with it--DD#1 sleeps in the recliner sometimes--it swivels, reclines, rocks. There is a bite out of it from our old dog but I can hide it most of the time!
I remember reading in Consumer Reports at the time that the reclining mechanism is safer in the Lazyboy--less likely to chop off a toddler's finger than a Lane (I'm not sure those were the exact words, but at the time I had a new baby and a 3 and 6 year old, so I paid attention!)
The only thing I've noticed is that when you open or shut it lately it is LOUD--it makes a CHUNK sound--works fine, but I can hear it upstairs!
We have a Lazyboy showcase shoppe locally, and Lazyboy's world HQ is in Monroe Mich., about 20 min. north of Toledo.
