Is a 35 minute lay over in cincinati, oh too short of time to unboard then catch the next plane? Since this was a change to my flight scedule should i switch it or keep it? Thanks so much for your help. I dont fly much and would like some suggetions.

Switch it! Thirty-five minutes is not enough time. It's not worth the stress!
Even if your first flight departs on time, there could be unknown problems once you land. For example, there's no crew available to direct the plane in, or the jetways are busy and the pilot has to wait for the gate to become available. You could spend thirty-five minutes waiting to de-plane. These days, an hour might not be enough. If there is any way that you can avoid a connecting flight, do it! If not, allow at least seventy-five minutes.

My advice is based on problems I've had with connecting flights in the past. Recently, I had a problem with a connection in Dallas. I missed my flight, even with an hour layover... all because the first flight departed thirty minutes late.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Flights begin boarding 30 minutes before departure.
  • Airlines often close the departing aircraft door 10 minutes before scheduled departure.
  • There is no guarantee that your first flight segment will arrive at the scheduled arrival time. Delays of 20-30 minutes are common.
  • If you miss your connection, the airline will try to put you on the next flight, but that could mean waiting several hours.
  • If you miss your connection and your connecting flight is the last flight of the day or if the next flight is full of confirmed passengers, you might have to stay in your connecting city overnight.

I avoid connections when possible. But if I must have connection, I insist on a connection time of at least one hour.

While there's no guarantee of a successful connection with a 1-hour layover, at least there's a cushion.

While I generally agree with the other posters, I would say that if you are flying into either of Terminals 1 or 2, your connection time is sufficient. Terminals 1 and 2 service US Air, American and United. Terminal 3 is a lot bigger and you might have further to go to make your connection.

I hate long layovers and I've had to run to catch my connecting flights more than a few times.

Also, check to see if you'll be on the last flight of the day to Orlando. Horace is absolutely right about not wanting to get stuck overnight in your connection city.

I'd say Not enough time! Unfortunately, we have to change planes practically all the time (very limited service here). It's not worth the stress if your first flight is even thinking about being late. Then people get in the aisles of the first plane and take FOREVER (or so it seems) to get off. Or the gate attendants take forever getting the jetway to your plane. Or more than once, I've been on an airport tram that stopped for a few minutes (Thanks, DFW and Houston Intercontinental). There's so much that can go on to shrink your time to change planes from what was projected. DH thinks I'm a little fanatical because I've gotten so I prefer 1 1/2-2 hours between flights.

It's not enough time. If you are in the back of the plane it is going to take awhile for you to get off and then you have to make your way to the new flight. You could be delayed on the first flight.

Change your flight to one with a longer layover.
