Layover Time Flying to LA - what would you do?

Yes. Unfortunately the direct flight from Pearson to LAX us $1000 more expensive. So the savings is worth the inconvenience.

I fly to LA frequently YYZ - LAX. I usually pay only 600-700, unless I'm booking last-minute. When are your dates?

BTW some of the flight tracker websites offer historical data on previous flights and you can see how often that flight is late.

At the moment it's around $700 and more. :crazy2:

We're looking at flying Thurs Aug 24th and returning Sat Sept 2nd

It might come down after xmas - with boxing day promotions and such.

Air Canada direct flights are about $750 return right now. It's a little higher than they normally charge. I find their planes are decent, and they are usually on-time(ish) and I haven't had a flight cancelled or lost luggage (yet). I've flown about 100k with Air Canada over the last few years and have few complaints.

Personally, I wouldn't want to book something that doubled my travel time with kids in tow. It's only a 4.5-5 hour flight to LA from Toronto. But I guess it depends on the savings.

Thanks. I am watching prices but would like to book soonish. Will check between Xmas and new yeas

I use the App Hopper to keep track of flights it'll show you the cheapest options, alert you when the fares drop and tell you whether to book or wait for the prices to drop. HTH

But to answer your question I frequently travel with layovers that are 75-90 minutes and it's fine.

Thanks for the advice. I have the app and do check it. Doesn't do mixed flights but for LAX alone it says will drop between now and July. Long time to watch.

Try flying Tuesday - Tuesday; I know it's not exactly the dates you want; but it might drop down.
Happy flight shopping!

Thanks Shumshine. Tues - Tues doesn't work for us since fitting in a trip between end of camp and school start but good to know for future.
FlightHub is actually neat as it shows you a matrix of prices of leaving and returning on various days. Leaving Thurs and returning a week Saturday later actually seems like a better price option too.
