Layoffs @ DFWs

Apparently layoffs @ WDW have hit DFWs as well.

any news as to who specifically is being cut? I hope our consultant isn't in that pool.

I'm thinking Disney will be contacting couples who are affected and letting them know who their new planners are. Personally, I'd rather find out directly from the source than by reading a message board.

Having already gone through my DFTW process, and having come in contact with countless amazing people, if I found out any of them had been cut I would be deeply saddened. All of this department spend their lives making other peoples' dreams come true. How sad that they would lose that opportunity to create happiness. I know there was a lovely young woman that was in training to become a planner and worked with my wedding planner on our big day. She was absolutely amazing and I remember chatting with her about how great she will be at her future position. I hope people like that aren't affected by these cuts.

Sorry...I'm just very passionate about the DFTW department. They are all so wonderful.

oh wow I hope its not my wedding planner and consultant. They were wonderful!!!!! I can't imagine hearing that any of the people I was in contact with were laid off. Sad sad times.

I would hope so Lurkyloo.
These recent moves @ DFWs happened on the 1st(no joke).
Bottom line is that no matter who you get,you will receive the same exceptional service. It just may take the Planner longer to get back with you,so I guess be patient

I never really post on these boards but I had to turn to someone I was so upset yesterday.

I recieved a phone call yesterday that my planner Celeste is no longer with the Disney Company I am really sad and scared. My wedding is in two months!

I'm less than a month away now......

My thoughts go out to all the team at DFTW at this time....

I never really post on these boards but I had to turn to someone I was so upset yesterday.

I recieved a phone call yesterday that my planner Celeste is no longer with the Disney Company I am really sad and scared. My wedding is in two months!

I am soo sorry for your loss! Before I was just sort of like I hope its not my consultant - I hope its not my consultant - I hope it not my consultant. But now that there is a name it really sort of hits home a lot more.

I don't think this is going to help much - but whenever we have to terminate someone at work, or find out they are leaving - their clients are always moved up to the most senior most experience best person on staff. Hopefully they will do the same for you.

Did they say who your new planner is going to be?

What you said is true and makes me feel better It just sucks I felt I had this great relationship with my planner and flew out to meet her for my planning session and connected with her. She was GREAT! Now, I have not personally met my new planner and mostly likely will not until my wedding day. That's stressful. However I'm sure my new planner will be great!!! I think they said her name was Mary Wilkinson? Things will work out and be great I know it, it just was a brief panic when I found out. Now that I have calmed down I feel like I was a bit selfish in my thoughts. I mean she lost her job! She is in a worse spot than me. She was amazing and I loved working with her.

Fairytales alway have a happy ending. I think a lot of brides (including me) loose sight of that during the stressful planning stages.

As for your planner - Having DFTW on her resume is huge. I think she has a definite advantage and should hopefully be able to find something quickly. Also perhaps if it was just budget cuts - maybe once the economy returns disney will hire back some people.

The bright side is that atleast she is an employee so she can collect unemployment. It would be really horrible if she were a sub-contractor and had nothing to fall back on.

But once again - I am very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what everyone in the department is going through right now. The guilt of knowing your safe and the sorrow of seeing good friends go. It must be really really hard.

I just got an email from our consultant saying that he was free for a day in May for site visits. So phew hopefully that means he is safe. My heart goes out to everyone who looses their planners.

I've been trying to e-mail my wedding planner for the past three days and her e-mails keep shooting back to me saying there is no one at that address. I finally contacted the DFTW office and I was told that they will be contacting everyone in the next few days to let us know of the "changes" occuring in the office....

Do you mean Meri Williamson? I hope so because she's my planner and if you got assigned to her that means she's not laid off! She's awesome

I really am a little freaked that we are this close and we don't know who we are with..

I just hope that no one finds out on the boards that their wedding planner is no longer with the company. That would not be good!

Not that you have to but I would wait a couple of days after you hear about your planner to make sure that they get the same type of warning that you got.
