We are planning a trip in May ! YIPPYYYY:goodvibes
We have been searching for flights from Washington State. The trip before we flew into Orange County (SNA), but this time around we can get a better price if we fly into LAX. (Saving about $250)
What are some thoughts on this plan? We are wondering about shuttle service from LAX (prices and length of time for travel).
Basically we are wondering if saving the $250 is worth the change in airport.
Thanks

What time is the flight? You culd get into alot of traffic in LA. Plus, security at LAX is really a drag. Orange Co is so much easier

We really like flying into Long Beach. I don't know if that's an option for you? We fly from Seattle and I just booked at $91 each way for a trip in March through Alaska Airlines. They have a sale going on right now that might go through May, but it ends on the 31st. LAX is manageable, however, if you don't fly in around rush hour. Then I think it's pretty crazy. I haven't flown into there in many years though. We've also flown into Ontario and that was ok too, but I didn't like the fact that you have to take a shuttle to the rental car companies and it's a longer drive than Orange County or Long Beach. At Long Beach it's just across from the baggage claim, which is outside. Very easy, fast, and convenient!

From which airport? If you are flying from Spokane, try Express Jet. They have direct routes into Long Beach at about 79-99 each way. Alaska flies into Long Beach as well, and it is not too much for your May trip (I am booked then too!)

We talked ourselves out of Orange County and into Ontario airport in December, b/c of airfare. But then Ontario was almost $50 for me and my 3 year old to go one way on Super Shuttle (and that's with the Entertainment Book discount).

But it was $10 per way for me to/from Orange County. Also on Super Shuttle. Not taking into account the $2 each way discount with the Entertainment Book discount.

Plus there was the time it took.

I've never been to LAX, but I really liked the cute SNA airport, and I spent quite a bit of time there, since my flight was annoyingly delayed. :upsidedow

I will have to really add up the differences in total price (including "time") for future trips, to make sure the lower fare to an airport other than SNA is worth it.

By the way, you can get a fare quote easily on supershuttle's website...

Wow! Great information. We hadn't even thought about Long Beach, I will look into that. Our morning flight would get us into LAX around 8:43 - scary and then the return flight is Sunday afternoon.

Our experience has been that SuperShuttle, once it leaves the LAX takes about 30 minutes to get to Anaheim. A little longer if they have a drop off on the way there. Rates are $16 per person each way, but if you book via the coupon on http://anaheimoc.org you can get $2 off per person each way. Good luck.
