I was wondering if there was a shuttle to the anehiem area from LAX or exactly what the best option was for transporting 5 of us with luggage. How bad is the drive if we rent a car?

Thanks
Drew

Try www.supershuttle.com or http://www.airportbus.com/

Super shuttle is quicker then the bus. With a party of 5, the would probably take you and maybe one other small party of 1 or 2. The bus is the size of a charter or grayhound bus. It holds many people and stops at a lot of hotels around Disneyland. To return to the airport they take you to a transefer area and divide the passengers depending on which airport they are going to. It adds time the trip- but it is the cheapest option.

I havent driven from LAX, but I do know CA has bad traffic. Depends on what time of day you are coming in. Dont forget to factor in parking if you get car. Many hotels charge for it.

The other options would be a taxi or limo. Taxi will run you about $85-100 each way. Many people find limos cost effective, but I've never went that route.

I've booked a super shuttle, for my april trip, but apparently you don't need to book. I'm sure there is a better/cheaper way for 5 people though, as I understand they can take quite some time.

Okay...so how long does it take to get from LAX to the DL hotels? We'll be staying at the GC...I've checked supershuttle prices and it's not as cheap as the airportbus and you still have to share the ride with others unless you pay for the exclusive and OMG RT for the 3 of us would be $200...not worth it...so if the airportbus is comparable time wise, then I'd go with the cheaper one. Okay...that doesn't say anything for service...anybody done both and can compare?

Thanks!

If you were driving right from LAX to DL it would take you about 45 on a good day. But, since you'll probably be stopping at other hotels plan on an hour to 1 1/2. You might be able to rent a towncar for cheaper or rent a car.

Traffic can be bad, but the drive from LAX to Anaheim isn't terrible unless you are in rushhour traffic. Get a good map, use the carpool lanes when you can.

My best advice is to avoid LAX entirely and fly into John Wayne, Long Beach or Ontario.

The first time we used Super Shuttle it took 1.5 hours and last time it took just 1.5 hours again, but going back to the airport last time it took 2 hours as we drove all round the houses to pick a man up from his house and he wasn't ready and we waited for him!!!
I won't use them again, we are having a limo from Lax to Anaheim then a Disney bis from Anaheim to Lax

LAX to Disneyland is a very easy drive - all freeway and very straight forward. When are you arriving? You should be able to avoid rush hour traffic if you arrive between approx 9am and 2pm or after 7pm. On my last trip, we landed at 9:30am, grabbed a shuttle to our rental car agency and arrived at the DL parking garage at 10:45 (no checked baggage). Just do a Mapquest and have a navigator and you'll be fine because renting a car will definitely be cheaper than any other option. And having a car is anice advantage if you want to do a grocery store stop or check out the beach, etc.

I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer flying in/our of LAX...as there is better flight selection and cheaper car rentals. However, their baggage service is really, really slow - so don't check if possible.

Have a great trip!

It would be a lot cheaper if you rent a car since there are 5 of you. You can even rent from one of the companies that have local offices near Disney and only have the car the days you need it. When we were there in September, we rented from Hertz at LAX and drove to our hotel. My husband then returned the car to the Hertz that is about 1 mile from Disneyland (on Katella). They dropped him back off at the hotel. We then got the car the day before we left and Hertz picked us up from across the street from Disneyland and took us to their office to get the car. It worked out pretty well, was cheaper than a shuttle for 3, and we didn't have to pay for rental days when we were just staying at Disney all day.
