Our plane lands on Tuesday at LAX at approximately 9:30 AM, we're taking the DL Express to Anaheim. Do you think it's doable to estimate being in DL for noon?

You hear so much about the horrible traffic in LA so I'm wondering if traffic is going to make us later than I'm thinking?

It's completely doable from a traffic standpoint. (I'm assuming you will catch the DL Express within a half hour of landing.)

It's about 33 miles to DL from LAX, and you'll be travelling after rush hour. Even with moderate traffic, you'll make it in an hour or so. Of course, if there's roadwork or an accident (or two) en route, all bets are off.

Enjoy your trip!

It might be doable, but you're probably pushing it a bit.

If the flight gets in at 9:30, you'll need time to get off the plane, get your bags, and get to the shuttle, which will probably take about 30-45 minutes (or more, if you don't make the 10:00 shuttle). Then you've got at least an hour drive. You'll be past rush hour, but not by much, and depending on which way you go, you could run into some snarls, especially on the 605, which is always a mess. Then you've got to get to your room, drop off your stuff, and make your way to the park.

I think you can do it, but chances are you will be rushed.

Have fun on your trip!!

Thx,

We don't have reservations or anything, I just wanted to be able to tell the kids a time estimate. :goodvibes

So it takes an hour to get from LAX to DL?

Cause I thought it was a half hour...should I estimate more for an hour?

Is DL south of LAX? I've never been to CA, and may visit a freind out there this fall. If so, I want to take a day at DL, but I have no clue where everything is???

Yes, DL is south of LAX. At least in a general sense. LAX is on the coast and DL is inland 10 miles or so.

I am planning a trip and staying at Grand Californian Hotel. Can someone explain the Disney Land Express? Is that the bus that leaves from the hotels and goes to LAX? Can anyone post a link about the Disney Land Express to get cost, reservation info, etc.? Thanks!! :wizard:

It's 33 miles -- so unless you can do 65 mph the whole way (which may be possible at 3:00 in the morning ;)), you're not likely to do it in a half hour.

I take that route a lot to DLR, and the best I have done is about 45 minutes with relatively light traffic (pre-7:00AM). An hour is a far more reasonable estimate (excluding rush hours, when it could take you almost twice as long).

Lol thanks.

Do you know how often the DE runs? Like every hour or half hour?

Whenever you are estimating the drive, you must take the hour and direction into consideration. The 405 is always busy but in general the majority of commuters in that area are living in OC (where it used to be cheaper to get a new house) and driving north into greater LA to work. Of course things have changed a bit but I still find, unless it is a holiday, that's the flow. Reverse that for end of the workday.

And they are working on the freeway near DL at this time so that makes it hard.
