LAX or John Wayne?

We will be flying from San Francisco to spend the 2nd leg of our trip at DL. The price on Southwest is the same to LAX or John Wayne airport. We will be flying home to Ohio from LAX. Would it be better to fly into LAX or John Wayne? Is one much closer and have less traffic to fight?

Also, do they both offer reasonable and efficient transportation to DL? I would rather not take a shuttle with several stops on our way to the Grand Californian. Thanks for your help.

We always fly into John Wayne. We are at our hotel within 15-20 minutes tops. We normally take Disney Express. Their first stops are the DL onsite hotels. At least that's how it's worked on our trips.

Definitely John Wayne! Much closer, smaller, easier to get in and out of. Long Beach is good too. :-)

If the price is the same, go for SNA (john wayne). It usually is nowhere near the same, so you've got yourself a lucky fare! :)

I always recommend SNA or LGB - both are 15 min. from DL. LAX is a long drive. Be sure when you fly back to plan plenty of time for security at LAX; they always have a huge line.

Oh John Wayne totally. :wizard:

Well, I haven't had that experience at all at LAX. The two times I've flown out of LAX, security has been a very very short line. Flying out later in the evening on Alaska both times. I've quite liked LAX each time...but if you can get SNA for the same price, might as well. :)

LOVE John Wayne!!! It is a great smaller airport. If we could fly in and out of there every time, I'd be in heaven. There is no comparison!

Thanks for all of your input. I will book the flights into John Wayne as soon as I am able.

Do you need to contact Disney Express prior to arrival? Is Disney Express part of DL's services as Disney's Magical Express is in Orlando?

I printed out a coupon from their website. It says it departs every 30 minutes between 9:45 and 7:45 pm

Just realize that the price you're seeing might disappear in a flash.

Disneyland Express is not connected to DLR in any way that's obvious other than the name and the "wraps" on some of the buses.

Absolutely SNA. Smaller, closer, easier.
I just returned from a long weekend trip yesterday and used Super Shuttle. I was very pleased. Booking ahead on the internet it was $9.00 per person each way plus tip, and because the vans only hold 7 people it limits the number of stops the van makes. I was at the Grand Californian and was the second stop both inbound and outbound.
Have big fun!
