LAX Check in

Hello out there. I posted this question some time ago, but I have since gotten differing information.

I am going from LAX to Orlando on November 23, 2001. My flight leaves at 7:00 a.m. I was told a month ago that I needed to be at the airport at least two hours early (that means 5:00 a.m.). I spoke to the Delta representative and she indicated that they DO have curbside check-in. I would like to do that, just because it would mean one less line.

However, I called Delta yesterday to reconfirm the times, check in, etc., and she told me they were recommending getting to the airport at least 3 hours early (that would be 4:00 a.m.). Now, according to the Delta rep, she said that they did not open the Delta counter until 4:45 a.m. I am just stupid or something, but why would I get there at 4:00 a.m., if the counter doesn't open until almost 5:00 am anyway? Am I missing something? So do I just stand around looking fabulous in my new travel outfit?

Any advice would be great.

I know people who have been flying out of LAX, and they said even with curb side check in, they still had to go to the front counter (even with pre-assigned seats, no plane delay or change, etc), just without their bags. I think the policy is changing constantly, without any real rhyme or reason. I know it is Thanksgiving, and even though travel is down from the norm at LAX, security checks are going to take much longer...I would try to actually get in touch with a ticket agent at LAX and ask them what the latest policy is a few days before you leave. I really think it is silly for them to ask you to be there at 4AM when they won't even be there to help you.

So glad we decided to drive to WDW!!!!

Good luck - hope your holiday travels run as smoothly as possible.

Macs4us. Thanks for the reply. I feel the same way. I could see it if the ticket counter was going to be open, but what's the point if they aren't? There are 13 of us going. 3 kids, 10 adults, LOTS of baggage. I don't want to stand around with my bags while they are closed for 45 minutes. That seems like an incredible waste of good "sleep" time!
