Lawyer TV Shows

Perry Mason - Classic!
Law & Order - Criminal Intent
Silk (UK)

We've been binging on Britbox for our crime shows the last couple years. My favs-

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (w/ Jeremy Brett), just awesome.
Poirot
Shetland
Silent Witness
Midsomer Murders
Dalziel & Pascoe

They also have the FUNNIEST crime show parody - Touch of Cloth. Hilarious!
Definitely worthy of a list of the best .

Perry Mason. Honorable mention, Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law.

Law and Order until Lennie left.

The Good Wife and The Good Fight

I also enjoyed Judging Amy, but that was more about family court judge stuff.

I’m so bummed about Bluff City Law. I really liked having Jimmy Smits back. I think they were probably trying to tackle too much right out of the gate.
We had like 6 or 7 episodes stored up (just too many other shows to watch and my husband was out of town for 9 months last year) anyways we had a chance to watch the recorded ones finally after hearing they didn't order/reduced the amount of episodes they were going to air and we felt sad too that it was very unlikely to come back. They had a groove that we grew to enjoy but maybe the issue we felt is that it took a bit to get into that groove IDK.

But I think you're right along with competing with other shows like All Rise and existing ones like SVU.

Law and Order.....like all the shows, the following of the process and the changing characters over the years
Perry Mason and Ironside.......love some Raymond Burr
Goliath.....so fun and love Billie Bob Thornton

Can't watch ANY of them. They all suck at showing what the practice of law is really like. So unrealistic.

LOL. After stints on Jury Duty, I would have to agree. The Judicial systems moves SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOWLY.

And I was on a Civil Trial for 6 1/2 weeks. It really should have taken about 2 weeks. Objections for "lack of foundation" for questions dragged things out. The lawyer would then have to spend 20 minutes "establishing foundation" before he could re-ask the original question. When the Jury got into the deliberation room, one of my fellow jurors commented that the Jury should be "allowed to stipulate that foundation for the question" had been established to save 20 minutes.
And Lawyers may be well versed in the law, but not real life. One of the potential jurors wore a different Star Trek shirt every day (jury selection took 7 days) and during voir dire one of the Defense Attorneys asked him "What Dr. Spock would think" of a situation. To which the juror replied "That's MISTER Spock...... .DOCTOR Spock is the Baby Doctor". Even the Judge lost it......... she was laughing out loud.

And at work, when deciding which hearings to send a reporter and photographer to, it's maddening. We go to a lot of what we call "17 second hearings" where someone right off the top asks for a continuance, which is granted without hesitation. I get if someone is sick, or new evidence has just been provided, but if an Attorney is on vacation, couldn't that have been handled long before the hearing.

LOVED Judging Amy. If Tyne Daly is involved you really can’t go wrong.

Yeah, it’s a shame. Had a ton of great potential. These days shows don’t get half the chance they used to. I adore Jimmy Smits but I’d watch All Rise once it had enough recorded to skip commercials and Bluff City Law a couple days later.

Law and Order--what an amazing show even in the early days. It's one of those shows that I felt expressed how we were but also how we changed over time as a society. And with the everchanging cast it didn't really bother me. Some had better chemistry than others though.

SVU--I don't enjoy it as much as I did when Stabler was a character because the format was different. But it's still watchable for the most part these days. I do still miss the olden days.

Would the West Wing count? It's not quite lawyer perse more political but it dealt with a lot of those legalities, those give and take compromise (that mimics plea deals and the like IMO) and it show cased society (and real life events) a lot like Law and Order and SVU did. I know that might be a stretch.

Goliath.....so fun and love Billie Bob Thornton
Love Billie Bob Thornton and really liked the first season of Goliath. Once that H.R. Pufnstuff scene happened in season two I was out. Just a little too twisted for me. Considering my all time favorite movie is Fargo and one of my favorite series was Sons of Anarchy that’s saying a lot.

I enjoyed LA Law, Judging Amy and Boston Legal when they were on. It was always fun watching law and police shows with my dad, who was a cop. He would yell at the screen, "That's not procedure! You can't say that in a courtroom! That's not how you cuff a guy!" For that matter, it's fun to watch medical shows with my mom (retired nurse). Her favorites, "Put those bed rails up! Your patient can roll off the bed! That's not how you take a blood pressure!" My house was always fun growing up!
