Monday 1 March 2010 - Day Twelve
Eric continued with his pattern of unsettled sleep and came in with us at 2.45 am. I got up with E at 7.30 am and we woke Andy up at 8.40 am. We got dressed and breakfasted and left the villa at 10.10 am, headed for Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Our first stop at DHS was the Playhouse Disney area so that Eric could have his picture taken with Leo and Annie from the Little Einsteins and JoJo and Goliath. Eric proved yet again that he was getting to be a Disney veteran when he high-fived the Little Einsteins with no encouragement from us!
We had an Eric paced walk over to the Great Movie Ride next, gangster version as always. I needn't have been concerned that Eric would find any of this ride frightening - he was soon asleep! I carried him out to his stroller where he promptly woke up.
We took Eric to visit Eeyore and Tigger. When I told Tigger that he was Eric's favourite, Tigger managed to convey to me that he thought Eric was cute, aw.
We stopped for lunch at the ABC Commissionary - primarily because they had rice and fries, the staples of Eric's Florida diet. Whilst Andy was ordering the food, one of the servers came to talk to me and Eric because she thought E was cute too. She asked Eric's age and if we were having fun, and I told her that we were bouncing like Tiggers as Eric had just met him. E duly obliged with some more bouncing! We shared a double cheeseburger with fries (we had to, it's called a Betty burger and I love Ugly Betty) and chicken curry and rice and a fanta. The food wasn't very good - the curry tasted especially weird but I can't put my finger on what was strange about it.
After lunch we went to meet Sulley and Mike in their new home. We were very disappointed with the character interaction here, definitely going through the motions and they weren't at all fun with E.
We got a cookies and cream ice cream and went to watch the 2 pm Beauty and the Beast show. Eric got very messy eating the ice cream and sat pretty well for the show.
We left DHS after that and headed over to MK to meet up with Kari. We got there at 3 pm but Eric had fallen asleep in the car, so we sat in the car for another half an hour. We took the monorail into MK and met Kari at the Haunted Mansion at 4.15 pm. Andy and Eric went off to ride Aladdin's Magic Carpets so that me and Kari could take a whirl on Haunted Mansion. We had decided not to take Eric on it as he hadn't been keen on other rides that were in the dark so it was great for me that I had a partner in crime to join me on the ride.
Andy and Eric had just made it back over to HM when we got out of the ride having had a great time on the carpets. We walked over to the railroad at Frontierland, well, most of us did, Eric was carried under Auntie Kari's arm! We took the railroad from there round to Toontown and then headed through the rugby scrum of Toontown to the Winnie the Pooh ride. We waited 30 minutes to ride which was just about too long with a fractious toddler. Though Eric was somewhat distracted to see Pooh and Tig across the way.
We split off from Kari as she wanted to do some attractions in Tomorrowland and we went to change Eric and watch the end of the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade again. We met up again for tea at the Friars Nook. I grabbed us a table whilst Andy, Eric and Kari queued up for the food. It took a very l-o-n-g time. Eventually they struggled over with the food and Eric (who had insisted on staying with daddy, more chance of fries, I reckon). I had a hotdog with cheese, Andy had a chilli hotdog and Kari had a plain hotdog. We all had fries and me and Andy shared a sprite. Eric, of course, just ate fries. I quizzed Kari over tea about all the things that were confusing to me about American politics! I'm sure she loved that...but at least now I do understand the oppositions to the proposed health care bill!
After tea we rode the Carrousel and Snow White's Scary Adventures.
Eric wasn't over keen on the Snow White ride, the bit with the trees seemed to freak him out a bit. We had a very slow trek out of the park. I opted to carry Eric and Andy pushed the stroller and ended up miles behind us - which is why I hadn't wanted to push! We eventually made it on to the ferry and then said our goodbyes to Kari in the parking lot as she was heading home the next day. We finally made it back to the car at 8.30 pm.
Eric fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep as we got him ready and put him to bed. We had a cup of tea once Eric was in bed and also some string cheese (!) which we had bought for Eric but we liked much better than him! We both had a bath and then settled down to watch Jay Leno make his return to the Tonight Show with a Bud Lite for Andy and a mojito for me and some of Eric's crisps. Good times. Bed about midnight.
