Thursday 4 March 2010 - Day Fifteen
We were all up at 7 am. Eric came in with us at some point in the night. Eric had a healthy holiday breakfast of a twinkie (!) and me and Andy had a cup of coffee each. we got ready and took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom arriving at 8.30 am - a new record for us! There is no way we'd have made it so early were we not staying in a monorail hotel. I absolutely loved being in the park so early and seeing all the shop vendors outside on the pavements waving, and we even got little samples of lemon cheesecake from a CM outside the bakery. We went to the Main street Bakery to get some breakfast. This was another new experience for us, although I had heard people talk about it, I hadn't even noticed this place before! Me and Andy both had delicious ham, egg and cheese croissants and Eric had some frosted flakes. I had a hot chocolate and Andy had a coffee.
We took Eric to look at the little bronze statues in front of the castle and he delighted in naming them. He liked the Goofy one, and he liked the Chip and Dale so much that he hugged it!
We also saw the horse trolley come down Main Street and stopped to say hello to the horse, Fritz. The CM with him said that Eric was "too cute"!
We went on the Winnie the Pooh ride and then queued up to meet Pooh and Tigger. There was quite a long wait but Eric did really well and didn't get too impatient until he was within touching distance of his heroes! The character interaction was great so it was definitely worth the wait. I said to Eric to show Tigger how he could bounce and Tigger took his hands and bounced with him, it was a real heart melting moment. It also gave me the opportunity to give Pooh a big cuddle.
We walked over to Toontown and bought Eric some grapes and then took him to the play area there. He had a great time going down the slide and crawling in and out of the little house. He had such a good time in fact that he was really not amused when we left!
We watched the Move It, Shake It, celebrate It parade and then Andy took Eric for a walk in his stroller to try to get him to sleep.
I went into the Main Street Emporium for a look round and bought an Easter Thumper for my mum for Mother's Day. we finally got Eric to sleep so we had a meander round and looked in a couple of shops. Before Eric woke up, we got in the line to meet Goofy and Donald as it was pretty long. Eric woke up soon after we joined the line. They made a big fuss of Eric and clapped their hands as he was wearing a top with them on. Eric gave them both a big cuddle.
We went for lunch to El Pirata y Perico next. We shared a sprite and me and Andy had a beef tacos each. Eric ate both of the pots of rice that came with our tacos.
We had another new experience next and watched the Country Bore, sorry Bear,Jamboree. Andy was so impressed he fell asleep and me and Eric very nearly did! Sorry to any fans of this show, we just really didn't get it.
We made our way over to the Liberty Square bridge to watch the afternoon parade and then walked (I know, amazing, huh?) back to BLT. We chilled out in our room for a bit and then had a look round the hotel shops.
We got on the monorail back to Magic Kingdom at 5 pm and went straight to Pecos Bill for our tea. Me and Andy had a cheeseburger with fries each and Eric ate fries as usual. We love the toppings bar in there, I had mushrooms on my burger and Andy had fried onions, and we both had pickles. We had a diet coke and Eric had apple juice.
After tea we went to the Christmas shop so that I could buy the Twas the Night Before Christmas book. I want to start a family tradition of reading it to Eric on Christmas Eve. We took a spin on the carrousel and then went on to Main Street to watch Spectromagic.
After Spectro, we rode Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh and the TTA. Dumbo was another new experience for us, and what I expect would be a new experience for most people, it was a walk on! I was not too keen on this ride, being scared of heights and all, but the boys seemed to enjoy it. We're pretty sure we had the last ride of the night on the TTA, which was pretty cool. Eric fell asleep on the ride, so we slid him into his stroller and enjoyed a peaceful nighttime walk through the Magic Kingdom. We stopped at the confectionary store on the way out to buy some more Minnie's cookies for Eric.
There was a big queue for the monorail, so we walked back to the hotel. We bought a smore from the shop, a tea for me and coffee for Andy from the Contempo Cafe and a bacardi and coke for me and a gin and tonic for Andy from the Outer Rim lounge. Somehow we managed to get all that lot (and us!) back up to our room. We got Eric ready for bed and he went straight down. We had our tea and coffee whilst we packed. We watched the Electric Water Pagaent from our balcony again at 10.20 pm and then had our baths. We finished the night with our drinks and smore, which was amazingly delicious, and went to bed about midnight.
