Laurie's Quest Continues....two more marathons in one year!!

Hey everyone!

Just got back from my LR of 7 miles!!!!! It felt great! Two months ago, I couldn't even imagine running 7 miles, and after today's run, I thought to myself, that wasn't so bad!! Oh, how things change!

Before, I left home, I drank my Enduroshot (cherry flavor). This was my first time drinking one of these. honestly, today I had so much energy during my run...not sure if it was from the enduroshot or just feeling good, but I am going to stick with them the next couple of weeks and see how they work. The thing I like about the ENduroshot is that they say to take it 15 minutes before your run and it should last for 3-5 hours. So, I didn't need to take anything else during my run. I am going to do some research on these but I like them so far.

So, I was able to jog the whole way today and finished in 1:07.5 min.....with an average pace of 9:36!! I am so excited about my pace. And to make it better my last four miles were all faster than the first three!!

mile 1: 9:54
Mile 2: 9:48
Mile 3: 9:55
Mile 4: 9:27
Mile 5: 9:23
Mile 6: 9:31
Mile 7: 9:20

I couldn't believe that my last mile was my fastest!!!!! It felt great!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words!! I am going to keep up better with all the journals this week!

Holy smokes girl! You are doing amazing! Congrats on doing so well on that long run... look how far you have come in such a short amount of time! You're doing great!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Laurie, Thats amazing. I'm going to read about this endurashots. I know when I look back at where I was 2 or 3 months ago it really makes me feel good about where I am today.

Carole---Let me know if you find out anything about the enduroshots. I want to do some more research on them myself.

Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. Hope everything is going great for you. Let us know. :goodvibes

Awesome times, Laure! You're doing GREAT!!

Have a good weekend!

Wow, I have really neglected my journal for the last week!!

I did manage to get some training in last week.

Last week:

Monday: Hockey game
Tuesday: 4.5 miles in 43:28 with a 9:37 pace
THursday: 4.5 miles in 42:00 with a 9:18 pace

It seems as though Tuesdays are turning out to be my hardest runs. Since I have been doing my LR on sundays and then playing hockey on monday nights, by tuesday my legs are fried! So, I think I am going to start doing my LR on saturday's and see if that helps.

On friday, DBF and I left for Martinsville, VA for the NASCAR race! We are both HUGE fans. We drove most of the way on friday night, stayed at hotel on friday night and then got to the campground down the street from the track on saturday morning. We went to the Truck race on saturday and the Cup race on sunday! Both were great, even though Dale Jr. didn't win on sunday oh well! He did have a great race though. We camped sunday night as well, and then headed home yesterday.

Unfortunately, I didn't get ANY training in this weekend at all. I did get a lot of walking in going to and from the track and around the grounds, so I guess that has to count for something.

My school is off all week, so I am excited to get back into my training today. I have a 5 miler planned for today and thursday and 3 miles for wednesday. I am then going to scrap my 10K that I was going to do this weekend and do the 8 mile LR that I missed last weekend. My race is in 26 days!! I want to make sure I get in my LR's.

Ok, I will check in later on with my workout recap.

Thanks to all for checking in on me!!!

Must be the nice weather...I'm finding I'm having to think about sitting down to the computer these days. I'm reveling in the outdoors! Though apparently its going to SNOW this coming weekend. How rude!

My DD have started out "long walks". We did 5.5 miles Sunday. And a realization of distance set in. 26 miles in my head doesn't really have meaning. But 5.5 miles does now and we were tired. We realized alot from out first long walk. We hope to get in a seven mile this week if the weather will cooperate. We took to singing in a part of the park that look deserted (we are closet off key singers) and a woman came around a corner and we stopped. She yelled out to keep singing. We wondered how long she had been hearing our rendetion of "Summertime".

Keep up the good work!

Sounds like you are doing great! I would definitely count all your walking this weekend! Good luck with all the training, you are definitely going to be ready for your race! :thumbsup2

Nicole

Since, I am off from work this week, I was able to get out early for my workout! It is absolutely beautiful here today, although I think the rest of the week is supposed to be colder and dreary.

I got in 5 miles today in 46:52 with an average pace of 9:21.

mile 1:9:15
mile 2: 9:41
Mile 3: 9:48
Mile 4: 9:20
Mile 5: 8:50

Not sure what happened during mile 2 and 3...I felt fine, guess I was just running slower. Then the last mile I had so much energy left that I pushed it all the way to the end! I guess I have to learn a little more about pacing myself....but I am so happy with my workout!!

Carole--I love your story about you and your DD singing in the park! That must be so cute! Sounds like you guys have a lot of fun training together!

Nicole-THanks for the encouragement...I can't believe my race is only 26 days away!! I was thinking about that today on my run, and I hope I am ready.

Ok, time to go unpack all the stuff from our trip this weekend, and try to get some scrapbooking done from some recent events!!!

You're doing great, Laurie! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Sounds like you had a great time in Virginia!

Hope you have a great week off from school!:goodvibes

Today was a shorter run in comparison to what I am doing on my other runs during the week...only 3 miles. I find it funny that I am now saying ONLY 3 miles, when a couple of months ago 3 miles seemed so far. Oh how times change!

I had to head to the gym to do my workout on the TM today since it is raining here in NJ today. Good thing my workout was only 3 miles because I really dislike running on the TM! I ended up finishing in 26:04 with an average pace of 8:39.....awesome time for me. I know I am faster on the TM, I just find it so boring to run on the TM, I would much prefer to be outdoors!

The rest of the week looks like it will be sunny and a bit cooler. At least I will be able to get outside for my runs!

Tracy-Virgina was awesome!! Thanks for the encouragement, as always!

That is wonderful, my friend!:thumbsup2 I am so proud of you for all that you have accomplished so far. You are doing a wonderful job and I know you will keep on keeping on.:cheer2:

Have a great Thursday!:cool1:

Good job getting the 3 miles in, especially since it was on the TM! :cool1: It has only been a couple of weeks since I ran on the TM last, but I find myself dreading it more and more! I am really hoping that the weather doesn't get bad enough for me to need to use it again, until winter, although I will probably have to use it when the temps get to high. :headache:

:cheer2: Your times are awesome. Really makes me wish I could run. You get somewhere sooooo much faster! I saw you did a seven mile run. Thats my next goal to get in 7 miles walking. Hopefully outside. Because it would take me 1 hour 45 minutes to do it on the TM. A tad boring! I too am faster on the TM. It worries me that I'm not as fast outside. But I also think I need to build muscle to deal with elevation changes which I am hoping will come.

Great job Laurie!

Well, I had an AWESOME run this morning!!!! I am so psyched!! I did 5 miles outside. THe weather was a little cool and a bit windy. I finished in 45:36 with an average pace of 9:06!!! That is my fastest time outdoors. I have been faster than that on the TM but not outside!! I felt great the whole time! And my last mile was 8:32!! That is my fastest mile outside! I am very excited. Only 24 more days until my race, I can't wait!

Tracy--Thanks so much for the encouragement!! Honestly, I wasn't sure I could do this when I first started, but now I am so excited about doing my LR's to see how much I can push myself. And if it wasn't for all the encouragement here, I am not sure I could do it!! You guys rock!!

Nicole-I hear you about the TM! I dread running on it. I am wondering how I am going to do in the summer when it is hot....in order to avoid the TM, I think I will try to go either early in the morning or later in the evenings to do my runs, I could not do the TM every day!!

Carole--You are doing awesome! You can definetely do a 7 mile walk! I am not sure why we are faster on the TM. I always thought I would be slower and was surprised at how much faster I could go on the TM. Keep up the good work with your training!!

Wow, Laurie- you are doing so great!! I am so excited for you- you are going to do so well at your race!! Did you get snow out your way today? It snowed all morning here, and I am scheduled to run outside today....brrrrr. Hard to believe that 2 days ago I was running in shorts!

Keep up the great work!! You Rock!

Wow, I am so inspired by your hard work right now! Last week I decided to start to train to walk the Disney 1/2 in january. So far things are going well (today was my first 3 miler, my goal was to do it in under an hour, and I did it in 52 minutes--not great I know, but I'm just starting LOL!), but your progress and dedication are outstanding. Thanks for the inspiration!

You are doing great, Laurie! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :cool1:
