thanks for that but $100 min for 16 people is going to be one hell of a push especially with 3 of my possible guests being under 21! Thats an awful lot of coke they have to drink or an awful lot more booze I have to drink!

Although I budgeted for $1600 i don't want it as a minimum as I was hoping it would be much less than that. When I was looking at the Yachtmans I chose the most expensive main course and an appetiser and a couple of drinks which on top of the service charge was around $100. But i'm thinking of telling our guests not to get an appetiser or at least share one or something (in the nicest possible way of course) as after our cake and champagne at the ceremony and the large portions I don't want them to be too full for our Dessert Party!

I hear you!!!
I think that St James room has a F and B minimum of £500.00 but I may be wrong. It's very difficult to get acurate pricing information before you are assigned a planner.

Well the other day James was talking about the fact that our wedding trip will also be our honeymoon to which I said 'unless we go on a Disney Cruise afterwards'. He replied ' yeah whatever, that will be really expensive!'

Well that got me thinking and just out of curiousity I go have a look at Disney cruises to see just how much they are. Boy was I surprised, they were not as expensive as I thought and for £700 we could go on a 3 night Bahamas cruise on their new ship the Disney Dream with a veranda stateroom! And what is the most convenient part of the whole thing is that in 2011 the 3 night cruise sets sail on 22nd September!

We were planning on flying out on the 8th Sept and checking out on the 22nd!!!!!! :woohoo::cloud9::woohoo:

Oh my gosh I'm excited, I couldn't really believe how handy this date and the price was. So I told James the price first and he seems super excited and didn't discount it straight away (which he would normally do) so I reckon we will be adding a 3 night Cruise onto our 14 night Disney Holiday/ Wedding!

Oh and James and I were discussing where to stay whilst at Disney and we have settled on the Yacht and Beach club as its super convenient and will be special enough to have our honeymoon there! My DF is being very unstingy at the moment, although we havn't booked it yet so he might change his mind when he sees the price!

Ohhh a Disney cruise will be sooo much fun. Me and DF went on one last January and we LOVED it. I think you should deff do it... Disney is so much fun but the cruise will give you some relaxing time on the beach!

Also, Yacht and Beach club is a great choice. I have stayed at the Beach club and it was awesome. They are in such a great location, a really short walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk. IMO they are in the top 3 of best resorts in Disney.

glad you have joined! when we went to get our pictures with the photographer i could feel DF shaking and thought something was up. So i totally understand about him being nervous!

not quite london as we are on the outskirts but its basically around there!

Well, last weekend we printed off our STDs and we gathered everyone's addresses. Its funny I just didn't know anyone's address so I had to sneakily ask.

We gave in person our STDs to DF's Mum and Sister as they are more local to us. They absolutlely loved them and actually thought they were real plane tickets! As if!!!!

Then I posted the others on Tuesday and this is where things went a bit rubbish!

I was hoping for excited phonecalls from my family much like the reaction from DF's family. But sadly this is not the case. I sent out four with 1st class stamps by post:

1.one for my dad who lives in the US so he probably doesn't have it yet so I'm ok with that

2. one for my sister who is a flight attendant so currently she is in China and getting back today so we'll see.

however,

3. one for my sister lives in the UK and heard nothing

4. one for my mum who got hers on Wed. I got a TEXT!!!!!

A TEXT, I mean how (please insert expletives) disappointing! I was so upset that she couldn't even give me a call! I now wonder whether I will get any kind of response as I thought my mum out of my whole family would have been the one to call but as I got a text from her god only knows what I will get from the rest of them!

Its just put a bit of a damper on things at the moment!the rest of my family better step it up or I'm going to get a bit bridezilla on them and the wedding is still 18 months away!

well as i hadn't heard anything from my flight attendant sister i thought I would text her to see if she was home yet as i might have gotten the dates wrong.

well she's back and got her invite as stated in another TEXT!!!!!!!!!

I also text my other sister yesterday to see if she got anything in the post but no reply so i text her husband today and no reply!!

Am i crazy for thinking that I would get a phone call?

Most of my family were the same (and I have heard a lot of similar reports on here). But don't worry - we have 11 people booked so far and we don't go until December, I think people just don't get as excited as us disney addicts!:rotfl2:

We also had a similar reaction from my family and DF's family, however we did tell them before sending out invites. My dad was like, " are you going by yourself then" i said, "well i would like you to walk me down the aisle!" lol

DF's family were not happy about our wedding destination and in their words "we will go because we feel like we have to"

People do not share our excitment for Disney, god knows how you can't!

well its not like they don't like where we are getting married its just like they're not excited about me getting married full stop!

regardless of where we are getting married I would have thought I would have gotten a phone call to say how exciting it was that we have picked a date and getting an invite etc.

but nevermind i will think happy thoughts and move on! i am going to accept that this is a temporary blip and that it will be smooth sailing from here on!

Sorry to hear everyone wasn't as excited as you hoped for. As long as you are DF are excited that's what really matters! I hope everything turns around from here and you have a wonderful time planning!

I understand your disappointment. I got similar reactions from my family. I have also been living with my fiance for the last four years. So, the only thing I can think is that they are all saying "It's about time!" :)

I guess after that much time together, it doesn't surpise people.

Have fun and enjoy your time.

Aww! Don't loose hope, they will come around to it.
When I first told my own family about our VR it fell completely flat.
You could have heard a pin drop... even crickets were embarrassed to make any noise.

Their attitude was so "Blah" or even "Huh?" it really hurt my feelings. But then as time passed and I got to talk to them more about it they started to get more into it. Granted sometimes they still aren't quite "there" yet, which puzzles me because we are doing this because they weren't there when we first got married ten years ago  but I decided to stop worrying and fussing about it and let them wrap their brains around it on their own time.

Just keep talking to them and always have a positive attitude when you bring it up, try and make your enthusiasm contagious  and let them know how very happy you will be to have them there.

My DH's family on the other hand is all up for it, but they love a good party :dance3::rotfl2:

Don't worry! It will be ok

thanks everyone! glad to hear i'm not the only one!

i'm over my little bride tantrum now so hopefully nothing will set it off again!

Its been a few days since everyone apart from my dad got their invites and its just dawning on me how tricky this whole thing will be to try and organise.
The wedding at the moment seems like the easiest part and its getting 14 people to be all in one place that i think will prove to be tricky!

Everyone has such different plans and budgets so far that eloping is becoming quite appealing.

A lot of brides have had the same reaction.

Organising your family will be so so so much harder than organising the wedding and I speak with recent experience. It is really important that you know this now so it doesn't stress you out later. Sadly they just won't be excited as you are and will do things when they want to. My family were great and did what I told them when. But DHs did not. And friends did not. However your wedding will still be wonderful though. Mine was the best day of my life.

Some of my DF's family is not thrilled with the concept of a Disney wedding either - grumbling about inconvenience and cost and not being that into Mickey - but I think they will come around in time, and I'm positive they'll have a great time once they get there! My family is excited - I get my Disney obsession from my mom!

I feel really strongly that you can't please everyone, and no matter what you do some people will complain/be unhappy. So just do what makes you and your DF happy - it's YOUR wedding!

That said I will also be annoyed if my STDs don't generate some phone calls! Especially if I design them myself! Do you have a pic of yours?
