Today was our last full day, so we were awake at 8.10 am and read the paper in bed until 8.45 am. Andy went to fetch coffee from the lobby whilst I got myself ready, and then we headed out to Disneyland on the monorail at 9.30 am. For the first time since we had been at Disneyland the sun was shining and it was actually warm.
We had seen on the map that we could get breakfast at the Tomorrowland Terrace so we headed there on arrival in the park. We ordered an orange juice, hot chocolate and a croissant sandwich each - these contained scrambled egg, bacon and cheese, and came with breakfast potatoes. The sandwiches were really good and we wished we had discovered them sooner.
After breakfast we took the opportunity to go on the Roger Rabbit ride whilst it was working and then went back for another turn on the Winnie the Pooh ride. When we came off the ride we saw that the queues for Pooh and Eeyore were considerably smaller than they had been on the previous day so we got a photo with each of them.
After our cuddles we went on Pirates of the Caribbean and Pinocchio and waited in line for Mr Toad's Wild Ride - but that was broken so we gave it up after a little while and decided to get some snacks for lunch instead. We had a box of raw vegetables - carrots, celery and tomatoes - with ranch dressing, apple slices with caramel dipping sauce, nacho cheese doritos and a carton of apple juice each. We sat on a table outside the Village Haus restaurant to eat at 12.45 pm. The food was all very good and a nice change.
After lunch we did the Buzz Lightyear ride and I finally got a half decent score so we emailed our photo home. I can't believe I forgot to mention this earlier. Instead of having to buy your ride photo for Buzz, they have several stations set up so that when you come off the ride you can locate your picture and email it to yourself. We thought that was a great bonus.
We decided to go over to the California Adventure Park next and headed straight for the Monsters Inc ride but it was broken (have you noticed the pattern?!) Instead we went to the Mission Tortilla Factory where you are given a free tortilla, fresh and hot and so delicious. We also did the Bakery Tour where you are given two pieces of sour dough bread, also delicious. They show an interesting movie about how the dough is made, which is presented by Rosie O'Donnell and Colin Mochrie (who we both love) and you also see the bread being made in real life.
We spent some time watching rafts come down the rapids ride, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't do this ride, though it did look pretty scary! There is something quite satisfying about watching other people get drenched though!
We bought an ice cream each - a Mickey bar for Andy and a Mickey cookie for me - and sat on a bench to watch the High School Musical 2: School's Out and tried to figure out whether or not the performers were actually singing.
We did then manage to go on the Monsters Inc ride, watch the Muppets 3D show and have one final go on Soarin' - only queuing for about half an hour. We left the park at 5 pm and headed back to the hotel for baths.
We set out for Disneyland again and were at City Hall at 6.45 pm asking about booking in for the Fantasmic Dessert package we had booked. We had to go to Frontierland to book in, in the area where the raft goes to Tom Sawyer Island, and here we were assigned our seats, numbers 12 and 13, on the second row.
That done, we went to Rancho del Zocalo for tea as we had had such a great meal there earlier in the week. We had a cherry coke and beef tortillas each. It was then time to go back over to the California Adventure park.
We had a wander around before picking a spot for the Electrical parade which started at 8.45 pm. We were lucky enough to be right at the front which meant that Happy shook hands with us both, Mickey waved to me and Cinderella blew me a kiss. We LOVED this parade, the floats are truly amazing. Our favourite was the dwarfs' mine train - pictures really don't do it justice. We also liked that there were some different characters in this parade that aren't commonly seen. The only thing we didn't like was the American float at the end - we thought if it needed to be in the parade, it should have been the first float. It made the ending a bit of an anti-climax.
We got a fanta after the parade finished, but we ended up throwing most of it away as it tasted like eggs, ick. We headed out of the park (along with everyone else) and joined the very long queue to get back into Disneyland. There weren't nearly enough turnstiles open for the amount of people trying to get in. At least they don't have the faffy finger scanning things like at WDW.
We did manage to make it back to the Fantasmic viewing area by 10 pm where we were greeted with the offer of hot drinks which we gratefully accepted - ordering a tea for me and a coffee for Andy. We were then brought our snack boxes - OMG, they were amazing. The first thing I noticed were the three babybels, one original, one gouda and one emmental, which was ridiculously exciting to me as I had only said to Andy earlier that babybels were the only reason I was looking forward to going home! Also included in the box were cheddar and monteray jack cheeses, crackers, grapes, two chocolates, an edible spoon, cheesecake, lemon meringue cake, chocolate cake, coconut cake and a chocolate strawberry. Being pregnant made it a lot easier to make a heavy dent in the box! We took some of the cheese with us to eat the next day.
The show started at 10.30 pm and although it was shorter than the one at WDW, we both agreed that it was better. For one thing, that weird Pocahontas bit wasn't it in! They use fireworks in the show which made it that bit more exciting, the story made more sense and we loved that they used both the boats - the sailing ship Columbia for the pirates and the Mark Twain for all the characters at the end. I would definitely recommend the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet - it isn't cheap but the location was great, it was lovely to be able to sit down and the food and drinks were tasty and very much appreciated.
After the show we had a final ride of the evening on Winnie the Pooh and then went to the Nightmare before Christmas shop where I bought a pair of Jack Skellington earmuffs and Andy bought me an I love Jack vest top for Christmas (hope he remembers about it by Christmas!)
We rounded out the evening with rides on the carousel, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Alice in Wonderland and Buzz Lightyear. We stopped on Main Street to buy the traditional Christmas decoration and chose a gingerbread castle. We also bought the book Spinning Disney's World by Charles Ridgway and a Year of a Million Dreams Mickey for a friend's birthday.
Last stop of the night was to pick up a takeout coffee for Andy and a tea for me which we drank on our way back to the hotel, arriving back at 12.50 pm, and heading to bed soon afterwards.
