Do they have washer and dryers for the Studios at the DVC resorts? If so, is there a cost if you are a member?

There is a laundry for the studios in the DVC resorts. Consult the resort map you get at check in. There is no charge, although you may want to bring your own detergent. There are vending machines, but it is costly.

The washer and dryer for the studios are located in a "laundry room". The location for each resort is different (okw-near the pools, BWV-1st floor near the work out room, VWL-1st floor near the exit, VB-4th floor near the elevators, not sure about the rest.) There are usually 2 washers and 6 dryers(VB has more). I have only been unable to get a vacant one once but then I try and plan at odd times of the day. They are free of charge but the detergents are $1.00 per 1-use box. We bring the laundry tablets with us. They pack really well and are so cheap by comparison. Hot tip- since there are only 2 washers and 6 dryers, I wash a load and then break it up into 3 dryers. The whole load is done in 15-20 minutes. This cuts down on my lost vacation time and for anyone else who needs to do laundry. BTW-there are timers on the washers and are quite accurate. Out of respect to other guests and more importantly the risk of someone taking your clothes out of the machines, you should always monitor your laundry. There have been heated discussions here about people taking others clothes out and setting them on the table because they just left them. With only 2 washers per resort it is a huge problem but is minimized when we all take responsibility. Happy planning!:D

At OKW the washers for the studios are located at each swimming pool and they are free to all guests. You can put your wash in and go for a dip in the pool. All the other units have their own washer and dryers.

Washers for BCV is 4th floor to the left of the elevators

 When did the washing machines become free at OKW? We only had to use them once or twice in the last 13 years, back in the early 90's, but we had to feed the machines quarters back then. Are the dryers free also?

- there is a coin place - but you can start all the washer and the dryers without putting coins in - sorry you weren't told before - they use to have a sign but I think it got worn down a few years ago.

Mitros-like I said they are free unless of course you want to put coins in the coin slots:D

 :( Two questions; was this service free right from the opening of OKW, or is something that came about later? The few times we used them, we asked for change at hank's to use in the washers and they never told us it was free. Second question; About when did this sign stating there was no charge disappear?

yes it was free from the opening - maybe they though you needed the quarters for the soap machine or the games room -

I just don't remember - the sign was on the machine (well at least on the dryer).

there detergent and fabric softner are very costly so bring your own.

There are slots to put the quarters in but all you have to do is push the thing in without the quarters. we used them only back in 95 when we stayed in a studio before we were members. They were free then and have been for some time now.
