Laundry tips for Value Resorts?

As much as I'd prefer not to do laundry while on vacation, I'm afraid it may become inevitable during our 12-day stay at Pop, especially since we want to leave plenty of souvenir space in our luggage.

We'd appreciate any tips on doing laundry such as:
- Whether or not laundry facilities are available 24/7?
- Do we have to have quarters for the machines? If so, is there somewhere on property where we can get them or should we bring them?
- Do there tend to be busier times than others?
- Are they regular capacity machines?
- Do the dryers tend to dry laundry thoroughly in one cycle or should we plan on extra quarters for the dryers?

These are great questions- I was wondering myself. I do know that I had read on here that the machines do take quarters, but not sure if there is a place to make change at the resort.

We stayed at POP last Aug. in the 80's section. There was a laundry room by the pool. I got up at what I thought was early to do laundry (7:00am)and the laundry room was full. I had to wait about 30 minutes for machines. There are detergent vending and coin changers in the laundry room. However, I brought my own Tide so I don't recall the cost, but think it was $2.00 per small box of Tide. The change machine would only change $1, 5, and 10's. It said $20, but would not work for me. The dryer did have to go through 2 cycles to dry my T-shirts. It took me close to 3 hours to do 2 loads of laundry. I did not leave the laundry room while washing clothes, because I needed 2 machines and when clothes were finally washing at the same time I was scared of missing out on a dryer. BUT, I had a fun time because I met some interesting people. I even met a Disser from Germany who was visiting for 28 days! I met a nice family from Canada. So while I would have rather slept I did have fun. I think the laundry rooms are open 24/7. The machines I had were the regular top loading ones. I can't remember if they had the larger front loading machines.

We have stayed at Pop a few times and I will always do some laundry while on vacation at POP.
There is nothing worse to me than arriving home( that's a bummer in itself!)
with bags of dirty laundry!
-Bring two roll of quarters(for a family of 4)
if you don't use them all for laundry, they come in handy for tolls
The washers seemed to be small in capacity, but after I seperated the loads its not too bad. If you have heavy clothes, like lots of jeans, or the like, you may need to add $ to the dryer time. It never seemed to be long enough to dry some of our denim stuff.
- I bring a few dryer sheets out of a box here at home. Placed in ziploc bag,
they lay flat and don't take up any room in the suit case.
- I also bought the small size laundry detergent and packed it in the suitcase.(Now, we drive so airport security is not an issue for us)
If I don't use all of the detergent, I always offer it to anyone I see trying to pump quarters into the machine. Less for me to drag home, and might make some ones day.
-There are machines for change, but its better to have your own.
-As far as I remember, they are 24/7, but I like to take an afternoon that we are hanging out at the pool to do the laundry. Load it up, set my cell phone alarm and forget it. That way I get to rest, and get the laundry done.

I too hate to take home dirty laundry. Last year my husband and I went down late one night to do laundry. It had rained hard that night so the laundry beside the hippty pool was full and we had to go to the other one. we spent several hours but met some really neat people. I always enjoy visiting with people there. I would encourage you to take your own detergent from home. Also, I usually ask at the front desk for some of the laundry bags and they come in handy when caring things back and forth. Just remember if it has been a rainy day, it will be really busy at the laundry.

DH always does the laundry while we are on vacation so I don't know much about the machines as far as how much they cost and such. He has gone early in the morning thrown in a load and read the paper by the pool and he has also done it in the afternoon while we were sitting at the pool. I save up quarters and put them in the M&M minis containers they are perfect for quarters with a pop top take out what you need and snap it back on, ds uses them for the game room to. I also take my own det. with us as well, I prefer to be prepared incase the machine does'nt work and we can't get change or det. I do remember dh saying some things needed to be ran through the dryer twice. Linda

Laundry at Pop is not a problem. The laundry rooms are located by each pool, so you have 3 to choose from. They sometimes get quite crowded (we go in July), so we found better machine availability after 10 PM. For late-night access, you use your room key to get into the laundry rooms.

We usually bring our own quarters. Quarters are available, but the change machines do run out. It's $2 to wash a small/average load, and $2 for about 35 minutes on the dryer. Our wash never seems to dry in 35 minutes, so we usually run the dryer twice. Tip: We found that the bottom machines seem to dry better than the top ones.

You'll be very pleased with the cleanliness. With so many people using the machines, we were amazed at how clean they are kept. It seems that someone is always in there wiping everything down. Enjoy your vacation!

At the Music the laundry room is right by the pool, and I do our laundry during our mid-day break and haven't found it to be too busy then. I set the laundry up, then go relax by the pool while the kids swim. I think it's approx. 1/2 hour for a wash cycle...same for drying. The dryers are a little on the anemic side, so if it's heavier clothes, plan on an extra cycle.

My biggest laundry tip is to bring the detergent tabs and some dryer sheets from home. They charge an arm and a leg at the resorts!

IMO, the machines are a kinda small capacity. If it's tanks and shorts, fine, but if you're doing a families worth of jeans and sweatshirts, they will fill up fast.

There is a machine for changing bills into quarters, but during busy times it can be empty. I just bring a couple rolls of quarters. If there is any left you can make pressed pennies/quarters or use it for the dreaded tolls.

I did laundry on our trip in Feb (because it was hotter than we planned for so I was washing shorts & tees to wear over & over), but it honestly, it wasn't bad.

Yes, I believe they are availlable 24/7...we used the facility right by the
bowling pin pool so we swam and did laundry and relaxed.

They are regular capacity machines (although I thought dryers worked really fast). $2/load....so $4 for a wash & a dry. Yes, you need quarters, but there was a change machine in the laundry room.

I think for summer clothes, one dryer cycle will be plenty.
