I found some at Walgreen's a couple of years ago but have not for the life of me been able to snag any more...Heard on these boards that they can't even get them in Canada any more...RATS!

I had the tablets a few years ago - haven't seen them either. I still have a box of laundry sheets. They sold them a few years ago too. They have detergent in them for the wash, then they become a fabric softener sheet for the dryer. They're okay. Lately, I've just been taking powder detergent pre measured in ziploc bags. Then I take some Bounce sheets in a bag for the dryer. I try to use them all up so I don't carry them home. I'll be on the lookout for the tablets - I'll let you know if I find them.

I have bought (recently) the spray n wash action balls- it's not really detergent though... it's one part (blue) for stains and one part (white) color safe bleach stuff...
I plan on taking the "packets" of detergent with me. Don't know if you can buy them but you can get them free by emailing the company on their websites with compliments/etc. and they'll send you samples. I have tide ones and febreeze detergent ones so far. :teeth:

Other than that the only things I have seen are the teensy tiny bottles but those usually don't stay shut very well (liquid). Why they don't put POWDER in a teeny tiny container, I have yet to figure out. :(

I emailed both Tide and Purex last year in my search for laundry tablets to bring on our vacation. They both replied that the tablets have been discontinued :sad2: .

So instead, I went to Target and bought 2 small travel size bottles of Tide for .99 each...I had a coupon for $1.00 off any size Tide so I was able to get them both for .98. I just put them both into a large ziploc bag just in case they leaked, but they were fine. I didn't throw the bottles away when they were empty and now I can just refill them with my own detergent for our next trip.

Sometimes you can also sign up for free samples at the manufacturer websites or Walmart.com too.

eta: another thing you could do is to buy a regular size powder detergent, pre-measure it and put it into a ziploc or smaller container...no worry about leaks

Since we are a family of five I needed to take more detergent than just enough for a couple loads. I found a very small box of detergent for $1. It was enough to do ten loads and it did not take up much space.

I haven't been able to find them anywhere either :(

For this trip I bought some of the All Small and Mighty - you need only about a tablespoon per load!! I put some in a small shampoo bottle, I put that and a kids medicine cup for meausring into a ziplock bag. I also had room for a few squares of fabric softener sheets and it dosen't take up any room at all. I fit enough detergent and softener sheets for 4 loads into a sandwich size ziplock.

I haven't seen tablets in years, maybe decades. They didn't sell because often they didn't completely dissolve.
Powdered laundry soap may be on the way out too, aparrently it can clog your pipes because some if it doesn't dissolve and builds up in your pipes.
My mother in law had to have her sewer line rooted out because of powdered detergent, city did it free this time because it was in their part of the line, but warned her that next time she would have to pay, so she should switch to liquid laundry soap.

No, not for tablets but for real small sizes of detergant. I have gotten sample packs at different locations (newpapers/sample give-aways at day care) and have saved a few. I found a 12oz "jug" of Tide liq. That will do 3 or 4 loads at the $1 Store!! Also got a pack of dryer sheets there. They have lots of travel sized products. (Not the real tiny ones, but smaller sizes, priced well.) In fact I may go by there in a few hours!!!

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC BUT I MAY END EVERY POST WITH THIS FROM NOW ON.
I PICKED UP A PERFECT "CINDERELLA-BLUE" FANCY PARTY DRESS FOR MY YOUNGEST TO WEAR ON FORMAL NIGHT AT A KIDS CONSIGNMENT SALE THIS MORNING FOR $6!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I had been hunting for the Wisk tables that I had purchased at Big Lots years ago, of course I did not find them because they were discontinued. Well, when I went to check out the few things I had the clerk was giving out free single load size Sun laundry degergent (liquid). :sunny: I told her that was exactly what I was looking for :woohoo: , she said take as many as you want they are FREE  . So, I'm set. :teeth: Good luck everybody. :wizard:

I bought the travel-sized Tide liquid at Target for 99 cents. I actually picked up 3 or 4 of them.

Somebody is selling Amway laundry tablets on ebay right now if anyone is interested. And no, it isn't me :)

Lets keep it simple, people. All you need to do is buy a small box of powdered soap, put a load's worth into a ziplock and throw away the ziplock after use. Put dryer sheets in another ziplock and put the quarters in that same ziplock. Lets not make it complicated.

I bought some of the Amway packets of SA8 from a friend before our last cruise. Each packet is a foil pouch of powdered detergent already premeasured for a load of laundry (pretty cheap too). This way I didn't have to worry about anything spilling, or worry about anyone during the airport luggage check thinking it might be anything other than detergent.

Make sure it has some color or texture to it and make it SOAP. When TSA searches your luggage and sees white powder you don't want them thinking it is something else. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I bought a big box of tablets a couple years ago and only use them for traveling. I just don't want the mess liquids can present.

I have done the powdered detergent in ziplocks/etc. I'd prefer to just bring prepacked liquid this time. LOL

BTW- I found this post just so I could say that I found 1 load liquid detergent packages in the trial size section of CVS. It's CVS free & clear ultra laundry detergent. I used one just to test it and it seems to clean just as well as tide IMO. LOL
