I've reached new heights of "How did this get in my laundry?" Today I was taking clothes out of the dryer and found one of the cats' toy mice. What did they do, hide it in someone's pocket?

So, what have you found lately?

I've found BULLETS before! (My husband is a police officer ;)) I'm always just glad they fall out before making it to the dryer...

First I have to say- be careful! Your cat could have put it in there. One of ours likes to get in the dryer. I guess it's warm and cozy? I have a fear of tuning on the dryer with a cat inside, so I always check now, but I never used to. It didn't occur to me to think there might be a cat in there - lol.

Now, back to the topic.

Hmm...I find the usual - money, receipts. Thak goodness the days of finding crayons are gone. That would ruin a load of clothes.

The worst recently was one of DD's leather riding gloves. It doesn't look so good now. :(

Thankfully I've never washed a phone of an iPod (and I hope I didn't just jinyx myself! :lmao:)

Bullets? Yikes!!

golf tees, nails, screws, golf pencils, exploded pens, chapstick, candy wrappers... no kids in my house, just a DFi who loves golf, can be quite the handyman, loves his candy, and forgets to take out items that leak ink all over my work clothes :lmao:

The nursing home laundry washed my mother's "softspot" slip-on leather type shoes:confused3 Needless to say, the shoes were ruined. They looked like they had been through a shredder:confused:

The worst thing to find is a Chapstick. In the dryer!

I find toy mice in the dryer all the time. My one cat likes to fling them in the air and let them land in the hamper so her sister can not find them.

I also find money (mostly coins) and chapstick.

Too, too funny!

I bet that's what happened here as well.

Laurie31 - I agree, and I do check (and always keep the dryer shut when I'm not loading or unloading it) as one likes to jump in on top of the warm clothes as I take them out! But she wasn't even in the room this time. The mouse just "jumped" out when I opened the dryer door.

Sadly, we keep finding cell phones. My DS16 has washed 3 and Ds11 has washed 1. Dh has washed 2 and I have washed 1 myself. Now we know to ask to check for phones before the washer is started. :headache:

Recently it has been chapstick and bobby pins. I have washed a phone before too though.

I found a bottle of sunscreen in with a load of towels last week. Thankfully it didn't open in the wash.

pens, pencils, crayons, MONEy, sharpies, and the worst of all: A disposable diaper :headache: what a mess that caused.

I totally agree with this one! Once you find it in the dryer, it's empty, and when I say empty I mean melted all over the clothes!!! :sad2:

Worst thing was an entire pack of gum. It went through the washer unnoticed, and then through the dryer. UGH. a HUGE HUGE mess. My DS had it in his bathrobe pocket, but then started throwing up. I just took everything and threw it into the washer without looking , and then just threw it all into the dryer without looking.

I had to throw out most of that load...:sad2:

Here's a fix for that "crunchy" leather glove. Re-wet it and put it on, and exercise your fingers/hand for a bit. Take it off and several times while drying put it on to rework the leather (if its really bad and you have some leather conditioner handy put the glove on, then apply it like you would lotion to your hands - just use a tiny bit though).

It won't be quite as pretty as before, but I've washed many a riding glove!

This is assuming the stitching etc is still intact :)

Cat mice, cat balls, thats normal around here. I found a paint brush yesterday. Took me a few minutes to relize they pulled it out of the toothbrush holder on the slop sink. Jl- when my mom worked in laundry in a nursing home and used to find dentures in the wash at least once a week. One lady used to hide her dentures in there so the Troll people wouldnt get them.

Earthworms in the washing machine. So very glad I found them before putting the kids clothes in the dryer.

I washed sheets today and found my son's DSI at the bottom of the washer, I could have cried. I guess he was playing with it after he went to bed last night and put it on the bottom by his feet, I'd have found it if it had been under his pillow but that's probably not as good a hiding place. Right now I have it in the oven on a cookie sheet with a towel under it i'm hoping the warm dry enviroment will dry it out and it's not broken, but i'm not holding out much hope.
