Laundry soap

I had to buy laundry soap recently. As I was browsing through the enormous selection of soaps, I noticed that there were no longer any for sale that aren't the "2X concentrated" or "high efficiency" type. No more just plain old regular soap.

I swear I am not one of those people who resists change, but I have a hard time putting a small cap-full of soap in my washing machine and believing the clothes are clean.

How do I KNOW that little bit of soap is just as powerful as the old soap?

Because they tell you it is. ;)

Truthfully, I always thought the same way you did, until my washing machine started working not too well sometimes and not draining properly, and I noticed how much soap was left after it had been through the rinse cycle. That's when I started to use about half of whatever the manufacturer recommended, and I have to tell you that I have noticed no difference in the cleanliness of my clothes.

Trust the soap gods. :goodvibes :rotfl:

I love buying the 3X concentrated All . It is so much lighter, and it takes up much less space in my shopping cart and in my laundry room. And even better it makes for a LOT less use of plastic for the bottle.

I wish they'd make 5X concentrate. Or better yet - just let me bring my bottle back somewhere and refill it.

I just posted this information in the thread about new washing machines but think it is worth mentioning here also. You need to resist the urge to use more soap than is called for or using regular detergent when your machine calls for HE. I mistakenly put regular in my front loader (I promise that I really do know how to read) and it developed a terrible odor. The excess suds caused a build-up between the inner and outer drum. And this really starts smelling pretty fast. I got rid of the odor using WhrilOut (found this at Home Depot).

Should I leave offerings at the altar of Tide? Maybe some old lint balls and a couple of pennies? Some melted chapstick?

Melted chapstick, a school lunch ID and shredded paper should do the trick. ;)

(Yes, I've found all of those in my washer).

I use to be a pretty faithful Tide user until I spotted the teeny tiny All bottles at Target. Living in an apartment complex and having to lug my laundry all over the place, the tiny All bottle makes my laundry lug that much lighter.

I love my teeny tiny All bottles and I think that it loves me (and my laundry back). :thumbsup2

I think it's a ploy to get us to buy more soap. The 2x is more expensive per bottle (because, they claim, you get more loads per bottle) but when you continually: A) forget to use the smaller amount or B) think it can't work THAT well with so little and you should put in a little more they are selling MORE bottles at the higher price! It's a conspiracy ~ LaundryGate!!

WHY are we talking about hacked emails and he lied/he lied/he lied/she lied when we should be talking about LaundryGate?!?!?! :confused3

If you really can't help yourself on adding too much soap, just take the concentrated stuff, put it in a larger container and add water to it. That will bring the soap to the consistency that you're used to.
