From my experience (reading the cost cards while removing them from hangers in hotels), Valet Laundry is like having your own manservant. You leave your laundry in a plastic bag on the door. It disappears. Then reappears magically clean and pressed. Magic! It also magically appears on your room charges with lots of digits in front of the decimal point.
I figure it's about as expensive as hiring a private butler. For a mere $45,000 a year, you, too, can have your laundry done for you!
Seriously, though, it's no bargain. Hanging around in a laundromat isn't my idea of fun, but in two hours everything you own is clean except the clothes on your back and you haven't blown your souvenier money. In SoCal, surely there are some hip laundromats, right?
You are typically charged by item; I bet a small bag could cost you $50 or more. I've never been able to justify the cost myself. If I expect that I'll need to do laundry, I'll try to select a hotel which has laundry facilities. If I just have a couple of items, I might hand wash them.
I've passed laudromats in the area and many hotels have them. Where are you staying?
Alot of hotels/motels have laundry facilities. I stayed at the Hyatt recently and there's one right across the street. Where are you staying? If you call the hotel directly, they can tell you where the nearest one is if there isn't one on the premises. Valet is too expensive...they charge you by the piece--I remember seeing $6.00 for a pair of boxer shorts washed and pressed! You can buy a new pair for that money.
im staying at the hilton, wasnt my first choice. Our travel agency suggested that one. First time going so dont have a clue about any of the hotels. I should of found this site along time ago...
