Thanks to some wonderful advice I found on these boards, I want to pack with me some of those Tide Tabs (they are a small solid block of detergent and are wonderful for traveling), however I cannot locate them anywhere!!!! I am now on a mission and was wondering if anyone out there can tell me where I can find them??
THANKS!!

Good luck! I couldn't find them ANYwhere!!

I finally went ahead and bought the little bottle of Tide they just came out with - it's for 8 loads. Then, a few days later I saw Purex tabs at a grocery store that I don't usually go to - but, I resisted the urge to get them! I'll just have to stick with my bottle of Tide! :)

I, too have been looking for the Tide Tabs, but couldn't find any. After buying the Tide spin brush thing (that bottle holds enough Tide for 2 loads) THEN I found the boxes of Tide Tabs at Big Lots. I went ahead and bought them, because they are shelf stable, and next time I need them I won't be able to find them again.

The best place to find the Tabs or the little boxes of Tide and also boxes of Downy fabric softner is to stop at your local Laundrymat. I always stop there before a trip and get a few boxes to pack. It is much cheaper to buy them there then at the resorts in WDW!!!:wave2:

What a good idea!! I wish I had thought of that before I bought the liquid! (my new washing machine only uses that HE detergent so I can't use it at home)

I saw the Tide tabs laundry detergent at our Big Lots store here yesterday. I think it was about $9.99 a box for about 64 tabs or so.

Deals had the same little boxes you might get at a laundry mat. I think they are either 2 or 3 for $1. I know they had Cheer and another brand I can't remember what it was.

BTW, local Target has the Tide liquid in a 4 load bottle - a little smaller than the 8 load size (and not as heavy for luggage). Think it was $.99. One of the reasons I ended up w/ the liquid (aside from having problems finding tablets) was so that I could wash a few light weight things out in the sink in the evening if need be (we have some climi-light shorts/shirts that dry quickly).....
Are the washers at resorts "normal" size or large loads? Wondering how much detergent is really needed....

TIA!

Beth

The washers and dryers we used at the Grand Floridian were normal size, like you have at home. I used an entire small box of tide or 1 tide tablet would do the job just fine. The only thing to remember is the dryers take a lot of quarters. When the dryer turned off, some of our clothes were still wet, so I had to add a few more quarters to dry it completely. If I remember correctly it took $2.00 ( 8 quarters) to put in the washer and the dryer.

WE were havinga terrible time finding the Tide or Purex tablets also. DS is a special needs little boy and he wears diapers....so we DO LOTS OF LAUNDRY. I didnt get a response back from the makers of Tide when I emailed but I did from Purex who stated that they were not big sellers so they do not make the tablets anymore. I did get a few coupons for Purex liquid detergent from them though. . I found small (8 loads) bottles of SUN detergent at the Dollar store so I bought a few of those and I mailed them along with our diapers and wipes and softner to Disney.

I went to Target, bought a plastic bottle and filled it with my home liquid detergent, I knew I was only going to do one load, and then I marked it TIDE and put it in a plasitc bottle marked it also, and I put 6 dryer sheets in a plastic bag.

We stayed at the Poly, it was $2 a wash, and $2 to dry. I used the side load washer as Consumer reports state they do the best job cleaning, and I do love this style best. I was surprised at the $2 to dry per load, I always seperate my heavy cottons with my lightweight cottons, so I did use 2 dryers @ $2 !

I just know how much soap to use, so I dont measure - so that wasnt a problem, just squirted my half bottle over the spot!!

I emailed Tide and got this reply today.

Thanks for your message, Heidi.

I wish I had better news, but we discontinued Tide Rapid Action Tabs due to low consumer demand. Like you, we're sad too few people wanted the Tide Tabs for stores to readily stock them on their shelves. I have a son in college and I know how convenient this product was for him. I'm sharing your interest in Tide Tablets with the rest of the Tide Team. Perhaps we'll reintroduce them in the future, but at this time, all our inventory has been depleted.

In the meantime, to help keep your clothes looking their brightest, you might want to try Tide Powder. And for those really tough stains, check out Tide Powder with Bleach. It contains a color-safe bleach that removes stains without the damaging effects of chlorine bleach. To learn more about our powder versions, visit: http://tide.com/products/tide.jhtml?productId=97

Thanks for stopping by!

I plan on measuring out the amount for each load and putting it into a zip lock bags? I don't want to risk bringing liquid with me.

Pooh67_68 -- Thanks for the great investigative work. I won't bother looking for the tabs anymore. I am going to take lovesdumbo's advice and put some powder in ziplock bags.
