Laundry in a studio

DZNYDREAMZ: It dosen't take twice as long. A little longer perhaps, but you use far less detergent and a LOT less water. Being on a well (as I am) that is quite a perk. The spin speed is twice as fast as a regular machine, so your clothes are much dryer than when coming out of a regular washer.
I bought a HE front loader when our old machine went up --one of the best purchases I ever made.
Should add that one cycle with just Bleach will clean any HE washer and take away any "musty" odor.
Funny isn't it? Front loaders were all the rage when I was a kid back in the 50's. We had a Westinghouse then. Then they went "out of style" with the top loaders. Now they're back--seems they are a better way to wash after all!!
