Laundry for DVC members

Do members get free laundry room service machines along with detergent? I have heard different answers. Thanks as always.

1 bdrm and larger have a single use detergent in them to use with the washer and dryer in the room.

Studios do not have a washer and dryer in the room but you can use the common room laundry facilities. With this you need to buy or bring your own laundry detergent. It is not included. They have a machine that sells the single use packages.

I know we had to use tokens at Alauni. I don't know if that's true at BoardWalk or BLT. It wasn't a few years ago. But you do need detergent. Those new pods would work, along with dryer sheet. I stocked up on the Purex three in one sheets.....I think they discontinued them.

They are not needed at the WDW DVC resorts. They are used at VGC and it sounds like Aulani.

The machines look like they take coins or tokens but don't. Just push the lever in.

Good to know! I was hitting up my kids' piggy banks for quarters thinking I needed them for the machines! Now I can put them back with a clean conscience.

Just a little hint - pack a few of the laundry pods in a ziploc to use. Laundry is free to do but the detergent - for the amount you get - is a bit pricey. It's more economical to use the pods.

Or, if you have an Owner's Locker, leave detergent and dryer sheets in it!

If you are using the laundry room, be sure to bring along your room key to unlock the door to the laundry.
