Gee that was more then I paid for wedding dress, hair makeup shoes undergarmets 17 years ago?
I got the dress a beauty from JC Penny gown catalog, shows at a discount place, splurged for set of beads that clip on. Had the vail made with beaded head piece and few tulle layers. Nylons, for $180 total.
No limo friends donated cars, really nice one, I had a local funeral home limo for the generosity, he would not take money, gave a tip. business was "picking up

stayed for food drink and and music. Our toatl wedding for 300 family and friends was $3000 what we got for selling our extra car.
We made most of the food except ham and chicken pieces. We had to take money from the money bag to buy more booze and pay the womens fire auxillary for the warming and serving the food.
It is wonderful that you can do this for your dd, I am glad that she helped you,
But, I can;t understand when we were young how did we get through our proms, senior year and class rings? I know I worked, bought clearance and borrowed gowns. The guys would use discount for tux, and a simple wrist corsage. Cleaned their cars. Iremember sliding across a vinale seat when they guy used polish in his seat. There were no seat bealts in all cars in 1970, the cars were often a 60 something car...
I think the kids would have such fun making things a nostalgia prom sometime...
We decorated our gym, kids that had bands played. A simple picture at the pond or trellis. No after prom parties.
Life was so simple and really a lot of fun.....The best days of my life.
I did not have a steady bo, my senior year the fella I was to go with had just died in Viet Nam and I did not even want to go. But the gang all wanted to have a prom with Ray and he was the honored guest and made a bad night a memorable one for us all.
I guess that is why $$$ means nothing to me, If someone offered a used gown and a new one knock out great..I would wear the used one and give the great one to someone at school anonymously to have.
But, for your dd to be a Cinderella and totally get the expense to help is so mature....just some day when she has a dd I would love to see how they cope with prom time.
Byt he way you have the patience of a saint. I would have had a sick migraine and been stressed over the wasted trip on Tuesday
My truest downfall I get anxious and stess big time.
Ps. My oldest dd prom, the guy did not call all the week before, did not return messages and I felt he was not into the cost, the tickets and the tux,,,which would ahve been fine if he was man enough to say it. He did not show up.
DD got all dressed, did her hair, pictures outside and then waited. So heart broken. I told her do not be crazy, you are not staying home. He is the jerk, and lets go to the prom. I got a nice outfit on took her. She met friends that did not care she was alone. When she was OK and rides arranged I just slipped away.
My heart broke for how she cried and cried. She was a tough girl too. I remember the star quarterback made a comment of ehr chest and she decked him knocking him out......
Today is her 32nd birthday....she passed away 2 years ago. She never was escorted to a prom after her disabling injury, she never had a wedding, but was in my second one......
I will should be visiting her and my grandchildren instead of her grave.
So make your dd happy, have a wonderful time planning, it will make me so happy to see her pictures and to know she had the most wonderful time in the world....
