Thinking of booking a cruise soon as a surprise for the family. Wondering what is the latest anyone has tried to book a cruise and managed to get a reservation.

Well let's see this next cruise (in one week) was booked in late September. In fact, I had to pay full amount right away as we were at the 60 day mark!:)

In fact I was trying to sell my best buddy on it., they have cat 11 cabins going for only $629.00 pp! We are at the 30 day mark. I would think they accept ressies up until a few days prior to boarding, I know they will not take "walk ups"

We booked our cruise for last Aug about 3 to 4 weeks before we saled. We booked a cat 11 gty and got a cat 8 handicapped room. I guess they probably take them up to about a week or so out. good luck

I just read that someone booked a cruise yesterday and they were going on the Nov. 20th sail date! THat's close!

Our first one was right under the 60 day mark and this one was at the 6 month mark! I much prefer the 60 days, not as much waiting!

Our Mother Daughter cruise was booked 3 wks. prior to sailing!

::yes::

We booked someone on a cruise yesterday that sails this weekend !

And contrary to popular opinion, it cost them more than it would have done a month ago. With cruising it's about supply and demand. IMO, the best prices are obtained well in advance for the popular cruises.

We booked yesterday for sailing on November 20th. But I would recommend booking as soon as you can. If I would of booked just 3 days earlier I could of gotten a Cat. 11 which is what we wanted. But I was 3 days late and had to go with a Cat 10 and pay an extra $400.00. And last I checked they had only 2 Cat. left, 5 and 9. So sooner is always better.

You cannot come into the terminal on the day of sailing and get a room. You might be able to book a room the day before. The 8 days in advance person (really nice surprise - can you surprise my family:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc pleeeeeezzzzzeeee!) is the shortest that I have heard of.

I have a friend who booked a family of 5 on one week's notice - they even got one of those family suites. They paid an arm & a leg but they had no other way to do it (my friend had been working on a trial for months and did not know when she would be done..). The hardest part was getting all the BCs together; they had the kids' but not their own!

I think it depends on the time of year you are booking. I tried to book a 4-day cruise on the Wonder in 2001 and was told that the ship was sold out of quads - although the staterooms hold 4 people, we would have to book 2 staterooms for 4 people. This was March for a July sailing.

We booked our first cruise 09/04/03 - we left on the Wonder on 09/25/03. Had to book directly with DCL - and of course- only had 24 hours to cancel.
