Latest Virgin possible strike info

I'm thinking of booking again to go next year in August/Sept and I was thinking of booking with Virgin. I flew with Tradewinds/Airtours this year but I had loads of problems. I have flown with Virgin before to California and they were teriffic. However I am really worried about booking with them now due to all this possible strike action. Virgin are offering free DDP and 2 free nights just now for the time of the year that we hope togo. I don't know what to do now. Does anyone agree that it should be safe enough to book with Virgin or should I look at booking with someone else?

I don't think you have got much to worry about for 12 months time, its the short term, next few weeks that have got people, me included, worried.

We fly Nov 29th and after reading these posts I am concerned. As one person said getting stuck out there is not so bad, preferably not in the airport. However, both my wife and I are nurses and as many of you will probably know we are not on brilliant money. We don't get discount on anything that I know of and when we have a pay rise have to wait months for it to materialise. Whilst I have sympathy for cabin crew I am also thinking about me and mine. We work bloody hard all year for this holiday and I have to be honest I would resent it if we missed any time in Florida! Do nurses strike? No, because quite simply people would die.

Any news please??

Do you know if they do strike, if we will know much before hand ??

We are due to arrive about 4.30pm on Thus 11th, and go to All star movies. with virgin package. We have booked Spiderman breekie at IOA for Fri 12th and 2 nights in HARD ROCK ( to get the FOTLA) now if we dont cancel 48 hrs before we have to pay for the room $320 per night !!!

Im panicking !

nowe if we got stuck out there.................. that would be fine for us !:)

Its going to be a few weeks yet Lindy.
Don't worry, its still a long way from strike action and they will have to give notice.

I think you need to look at the full package the Cabin Crew get, not just the basic.
they get a basic salary, plus flight pay, plus expenses for staying downroute, they get heavily discounted fares for them and their family, they also get "Mates rates" for their friends.

Some of the Senior Flight Managers are on up to £60,000 a year.

One of their major niggles is the removal of one post on some of the airbusses. This is something that has happened in other industries time and time again, with the rest of the teams having to pick up the slack.

This seems to be a situation where we are seeing the return to the militant days of the seventies, not just in the Airlines, but in the Post office, Trains and tubes and other Public industry sectors.

Winter of Discontent anyone??
not just a mine of information but also a voice of common sence and reality
good for you Obi:thumbsup2

In Wales it's 29th to 2nd November - I was hoping to just miss it as we're flying on the 25th of october but now I'm really stressing about it, as everyone else's half term seems to be when we're flying.........!

Would anyone hazard a guess as to possible strike activity, could we be taking about cancelled flights here, or bigger queues, or long delays..........?

We are due to come home on the 22nd. What do people think is the best way to keep track of any strike action? Is there a Virgin Atlantic contact number out there? We are not with Virgin holidays so they only have our first nights stay address (altho I would be happy to give them more details!)

I'm still a tiny bit stressed about this. Only a tiny bit honestly, but I wish they would sort something out...
