latest check out time?

We're starting to plan our Dec 2012-Jan 2013 trip and dh just informed me he wants to run the marathon (he's done 10 of them but since that year will be the 20th he really wants to do it)

fine no prob except i think it falls on the day we are due to check out.

we can't stay another day since the marathon is on a Sunday and we have to be back for dd to get back to school since she'll already have been off a week after the christmas break.


what's the latest time we can request a check out so dh can come back after the marathon shower and have a nap before we have to head to the airport?

we'll be staying at AK and being in January do you think it will be an issue since it's low peak time?

I have read that they are pretty strict with the 11am check out time. You can always call the front desk to ask though.

Since you are staying at AK, you could use their locker room/shower.

There is no late check-out with DVC so they are very firm with the 11:00am deadline. They may be able to make exceptions on very rare occasions but I wouldn't count on being able to stay past 11:00am. As mentioned, you should be able to use the other facilities at the resort, just not the ones in the room you are leaving.

only i'm sure after running a marathon dh will want to have a sleep.

i guess we can discuss adding an extra day but it bugs me to have to pay for a 2 bedroom savannah view just so we can stay a few hours later.

if we could drop the 1bedroom and just have the studio that would work but my guess is they'd make us move

As mentioned, the checkout is 11:00AM. A late checkout is not an option for DVC. Keep in mind that you could still use the showers in the gym of your resort. I needed a late checkout once because we were switching rooms and had an infant so we didn't want to be without a room, so we paid for an extra night in a studio and used the room until 4:00PM...we did not sleep there.

DVC is not extend check-out time friendly unless it is an extreme emergency related situation.

And they will not guarantee that you will not have to change to another studio so that could be a hit or miss. And if you've got to change rooms it may make $ sense to book at a different Disney resort altogether. But see if they have Member's Cash Discount available for Sunday, that too might be better to book via cash instead of using additional points.

I think other posters here have made good suggestion to use the onsite facilities at the resort to shower, etc. and there are lots of restful spots at Jambo and in my opinion, probably even better locations at Kidani Village. And the kids can probably be kept well entertained with you at the Community Hall.
