Getting off ship in Port of Miami. What can we do for a solid 3 hours in MIA before we check in for our flight? 😅 Thanks!!

We did this excursion in December and enjoyed both of the double decker bus tours (Little Havana and South Beach). We had lunch in the Bayside Marketplace and then took the 3 pm shuttle to FLL- they also go to MIA. The price is reasonable and it was a good way to spend part of a day since we had a late flight. If you do the tours, my suggestion is ito get a seat up top just to the rear of the staircase. We sat there on both tours and didn’t need to have the headphones in our ears to listen to the tour guides as they were standing close enough to us to hear them directly.

lol.. sorry, I forgot to mention - we have our young kids with us... Are there any restaurants around the airport we can walk or just Uber to (after Disney drops us off the airport)? 😅

I just want to confirm, so the tour bus would be the one picking you up from the port and dropping you off the airport after the tour? How long was it or it’s up to you on how much of Miami you want to see? Thanks! :)

Unless it has changed, you and your luggage will be shuttled over to the Bayside mall which has restaurants and tourist type shopping. From there, you can choose from several bus routes. Your luggage is stored while you tour. When you are done touring, you and your luggage are transferred to the airport.

Jungle Island is very close to the Port of Miami. So is the Frost Museum and the Miami Children's Museum. Any of the 3 would be great time killers before heading to the airport. I would call and see if any of them have a place to hold luggage while there.

I just checked out the bus tour. I have a little one and that would be my choice just for the convenience.

We have a 7pm flight and we are renting a car for the day. It was only about $120 to rent a minivan one-way from the port to the airport (FLL, though). This would keep you from having to get to the airport so early.

DH & I just got back from a cruise out of Miami, but flew in and out of Ft. Lauderdale. Speaking from experience, 3 hours is not a lot of time, especially on a Saturday. FLL was PACKED and the Southwest gate agent said it is like that every weekend at both FLL and MIA. Port Everglades and the Port of Miami are huge cruise ports that empty out thousands of cruisers every weekend. There were at least 7 ships docked in Miami and other people were saying there were 5-6 in Port Everglades.

The line to get an Uber/Lyft after debarking was insane. Luckily were able to jump on a shuttle. However, the trip to the airport took longer than usual due to a bad wreck on the interstate. Our driver (thankfully!) knew this and took back roads to get us there. Finally, when we got to the airport it took us over 30 minutes just to check our bags due to the lines.

So I totally understand wanting to kill a few hours outside the airport, but definitely be aware of timing and allow more than you think. With only 3 hours I don't think I'd risk any tour outside of one through the cruise line. And that would be iffy.

This is exactly what my dad would say. But he's the type of person who would have a 3 hour layover somewhere and RUSH to the other gate... so that he can sit there for 2.5 hours. And yet this is the same man who manages to sit in a lounge chair for the entire day on a cruise.

This is good information. We're gonna be on Symphony OTS in August and going to FLL from PoM. Probably getting a car service since there will be 10 of us, but it would be nice to grab brunch somewhere instead of a Shula burger (which I'll concede is a tasty burger, and please imagine me saying that in a Jules Winnfield voice).

We saw the Symphony in Miami...massive ship! But looked really cool. I'm still hesitant on the mega-ships, but definitely neat to see in person. Have a great cruise!

With the Oasis class ships you really do need to experience them before you know whether you like them or not. It's not a cheap test drive, so I don't blame you for being hesitant.

This is exactly what they did in December. The South Beach tour lasted a bit over 1 1/2 hours and the Little Havana tour was about 1 hour. (We didn’t get off the bus on either tour).
