Late September weather?!

We are arriving at the world Saturday and the extended weather forcast looks awful!! :-( It shows thunderstorms every day-as far out that the forcast goes. Is this typical late Sept weather? We have never gone at this time of the year and now I'm thinking I've made a mistake. I just want my DGD to have a great trip--I know weather doesn't ruin the trip but it does make it less enjoyable.

You're coming into hurricane time so rain wouldn't be a surprise. Hopefully it won't be all day rain for you and just pop ups here and there. Though the forecast can change and chances are it won't be as bad as you think, I would definitely have the ponchos packed.

I would love to be a weatherman in Florida in September. Let me guess, 60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms every day?

For what it's worth, this is always the forecast in Orlando this time of year. Anything more than a day out is going to be a guess. We had the same forecast early in the month and ended up with the driest September trip we've ever had.

Entirely typical!! OR, it may not rain at all!! Just another part of the deep south which I've mostly lived in, and it is still hot, hot, hot and humid! Just be prepared to enjoy anyway. Even though Sept. is not 'officially' still summer - in the south it is!!! We try to go to the parks in the few months that is cooler.

I'm going at the end of Sept. too and I was absolutely terrified that we would be completely rained out. But then I noticed that ALL of Sept. had that forecast and when you looked at the "observed" days that had already passed, there was minimal (or zero) rain. It must be nice to be a weatherman - there's 50% chance of rain every day! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's no rain, or very little anyways!

I'm going during that time too, but wouldn't worry. They always err on the side of rain. In my four September trips I only had one downpour that lasted two hours. The rest was quick showers.

we were there at the end of September a few years ago and saw dark clouds almost every day but the only time it rained on us was for about 10 minutes and we were on the bus back to the resort at the time.

We go every there at the end of September and first part of October and the forecast is the same. A fifty percent change of rain means there is a fifty percent chance it won't. Unless a front settles in and doesn't move, you might get rain or you might not. The days are still hot so even a little rain doesn't ruined the day. If it rains put on a poncho and and keep going. Weathermen guess, so don't believe it until it's happening.

I think if there is even a chance of rain for one minute they make that the forecast of the day!! An afternoon thunderstorm is the norm in FL but it may not affect you. It could be raining at MK and totally dry at AK, lol! Best to be prepared with a poncho but I only wore mine around my waist on Splash Mtn!

We just got back after 11 days and we did not have a single thunder storm over us at any point while we were there. We had 2 days of on and off rain for a couple hours each. This was with a 60% chance of storms for the entire time we were there. So i'd say that its hit or miss depending on what park you are at.

It's typical for daily pop up thunderstorms due to the high humidity. Usually they are brief and pass quick. We've been the last week of September and never saw a drop of rain, even though they were calling for isolated t-storms. You never know!

Right now - and this can change by the time I'm done writing this, the best day for a water park would be Sunday. And that forecast says "isolated thunderstorms developing throughout the afternoon". But that's for all of Kissimmee, not right at a water park. And "developing" could mean anything and it's a 30% chance.

Now, check tomorrow and everything will have changed.

The weather forecast is essentially the same from June through the second week in October,hot,humid and rainy.September is one of the rainiest months,mid October is when the weather turns,November for example is one of the driest months,then it stays relatively dry through mid to late May,April and especially May will be pretty warm or even downright hot.

I just went on to a weather website and the headline is "Atlantic storm to last Florida to NJ this week" with the possibility that it could take on tropical characteristics. I was like yay, of course, going to Orlando this upcoming week, that would be my luck.

Florida forecasts change daily. You could check it one morning, then check it again that night and its something entirely different. I suggest to stop worrying, and just check the forecast a day or two before your trip and take it with a grain of salt. We leave on Monday(Sept 28th). I cant tell you how many times the forecast for my trip has changed. As for the above post, there is a Atlantic storm that will be traveling up the coast, bringing some rain. However that is most likely to be sometime between Wed-Friday this week, and will have a greater impact on North Carolina and Georgia than Florida. I've gone down to Florida a lot, as my dad use to live down there. If you notice, weather.com tends to always leave a 50-60% chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout their 7-10 day forecasts. Always have been that way. Also sometimes Accuweather tends to give a more accurate forecast than weather.com. Take today for example, weather.com forecast that Orlando would be overcast today, while Accuweather forecast it would be "more sun than clouds". My brother is down there right now, and he said its really sunny and nice down there today. So long story short, you could spend hours on end, worrying about the weather for your trip. But it's pointless. My trip is in 5 days, and I expect the forecast to change a million more times before I go.

Also, keep in mind, that it can be downpouring on one side of WDW property, and experiencing bright sunshine on the other.
