Due to an unexpected pregnancy; not me:P- a co-worker . . . I need to reschedule my annual early December vacation. Since I have never done F&W I am actually a little excited about the change. I can either go 09/26 - 10/3 or 10/24 - 10/31. Any suggestions as to which might be best for weather and crowds?

Thanks. :flower3:

In my opinion, the weather will likely be nicer in late October. I don't think crowds will be much different. See easywdw.com for a historical breakdown of both.

Thanks! Actually, I was reading easywdw right this moment. :cutie: It does seem that late October would have better weather and I agree that the crowds would be about the same.

I concur. Late October will be a bit cooler than late September. <<<says the person who always goes late September:crazy:

Weather definitely late October...low rain period and moderate temperatures. My favorite time of year to go.

We've only done late Sept, but would love to try late Oct. The average rainfall is less late Oct, and temps will be slightly lower. (average 84 vs 88) Late Sept is HOT and HUMID, which we're perfectly happy with, but late Oct will still be plenty warm enough even for an evening swim in the pools (a major criteria for us)

Crowds are low both times. About a 3 on average for late Oct versus 2 for late Sept (out of 10)

September if you are into the Water Parks. We go at this time because the weather is perfect for Water Parks and pool time.

We went Sept 24th to 26 last year and then again Oct 22nd to Oct 27th and the difference was huge. Sept was hot, very humid and rainy. The humidity was just awful. We spent a lot of time in the pool in the afternoon because it was too hot to enjoy any other outdoor activity.

October had the best weather I think we have ever had. It was sunny, in the mid 80's, and I don't think we had any rain. It might have been a fraction more crowded but not enough to make me ever go back to Disney in Sept again.

Are the water parks open in October? I wanted to go October 24th.

The typical pattern for water parks off season is that one remains open while the other closes for refurb, then they switch. So normally at least one is open at all times of year.

We've been both at the beginning of Oct and the end of Oct. I much prefer the weather towards the end of Oct. we can enjoy more time at the parks because it's not so darn hot.

Thanks for all the great insight - late October it is.

And I found good availability at Poly DVC today so I am set to go. :thanks:

We enjoyed late oct so much last year we are headed back this year-just a heads up in case you are unaware there is going to be pool construction going on at the poly through early 2016-the quiet pool and surrounding area is being completely redone-volcano pool will be open though

Last year Typhoon Lagoon closed sun Oct 26th for refurbishment (I believe it typically closes first during the off season then when it reopens in Jan Blizzard Beach closes)

I do know about that and was going to watch for upcoming reviews. If it sounds like it is really impacting the resort I might try to move over to AKV.

We are new DVC members and are also booked at Poly (couldn't book our home resort of BWV b/c of F&W) hoping resort isn't in too bad of shape this fall-studios look awesome just hoping the east pool isn't detracting too much from the rest of the resort

Another thing to keep in mind is free dining, if you're planning on hoping for that. I know we were back and forth between a few different weeks for our trip and decided on Sept 25-Oct 3 so we could (hopefully) get free dining, do Food and Wine and attend the Halloween Party. I'm pretty sure free dining is blacked out the last week of Oct? I could be wrong!

i actually am the odd ball and i prefer September over October. One, better chance of hitting free dining. Lower crowds, I know that its still not super busy in October but September is a ghost town. I would love to go to the f&w festival, but we just havent been given a good enough reason to move from sept to october yet. i actually like the hot weather, i live in Ohio, and I dont wanna be cold on vacation. We went to disney beginning of November once, it literally snowed in Florida, we had to buy pants, coats, gloves, it was insane.
