Late Sept vs. Mid-October

We are planning on going to WDW this fall. Dates I'm considering are Sept 22-30th or October 6-14. Are there any advantages to one over the other? I know Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween party will be going on during both.

We went the end of October last year. However, I remember a lot of posts going on back in Sept and Oct regarding Fall Break with a lot of schools. I believe it was going on in early mid October. It's something to take into consideration when planning.

Then there's free dining to consider...
Speculations say that it may end Sept 29th. (If they have it again this year.)

Yes, Free Dining is one of the mail reasons I'm even considering the Sept date.

The October date would include our 10th anniversary and my parents 60th birthdays.

I was just wondering if there was anything else I was missing. Parks open later? Other special events.

We went the last week of September in 2005 and it was wonderful. The value rates are still in effect (they end October 2 and go back to regular rates), the weather is great, and you can go to the Halloween party at the end of the week if you want. Plus the free dining. Also, the crowds are lighter (there are none) because no one is out for fall break yet. Have a great time! We will be back there the last week of September this year- there is no better time!

There is also the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot from September 28-November 11

If you go in Sept., let me forewarn you about one little thing (or should I say thousands of little things): love bugs! Everywhere! We swear we will never return in Sept again b/c of them. I had heard they weren't as bad in Oct., but I can't speak from experience on that.
