We are going on the Wonder in January for the Southern Carribean itenirary. The all aboard time the first night isn't unti 9 or 9:30pm. Has anyone been on a cruise that leaves this late? Do they hold the sail away party that late? Or do they do somethings earlier? I think my kids would love to go, but don't think that can stay up that late!

On one of our Wonder west coast cruises, even though the "departure" was scheduled for 5:00, we didn't actually leave until after the first dinner seating. The sail away party was at the "normal" time around 4 anyway.

I realize it's not quite the same as a scheduled late departure, but my guess is they would do the same.

We had an all aboard that late from San Juan and the sail away was at the earlier time, if memory serves me correct.

We are leaving from San Juan in January, and I believe we received an email which stated that the sail away time was now 6pm. You may want to check your cruise docs:)

ETA: This is what I received. "Please be advised that, due to operational reasons, the departure time for the Disney Wonder sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico has been moved forward to 6:00pm. Flights into Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) should arrive no later than 3:00pm and all guests must check in at the pier by 5:00pm. We regret any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding."

According to my cruise docs, the Sail Away party is at 4:15 pm

Good to know! Our travel agent hasn't been great about communicating these things. Do you know if this applies to the January 17 sailing?

WOW that IS LATE notice for people that are flying in the "day of departure" - which was "easy" (but not wise) from the midwest through the east coast to make a 9pm departure. Being a west coaster, I would have flown in at least a day early.

Well we flew in 4 days early as we had never been to Puerto Rico. I would fly in several days early again - we had a great time in Old San Juan. Would have loved to visit more of the Island - I guess that is for another trip.

Regarding Sail Away: our departure from port was 9 or 9:30 pm and the sail away party was around 4pm (it was inside due to rain / lightning) and we saw the last part of it as we boarded the ship around 4:30.

We received the notice October 21 from Costco. This is for the January 10 sailing. I would definitely contact your TA ASAP to see if it also applies to yours:)

All of the Southern Caribbean cruises in January leave at 6 pm. If your TA hasn't communicated this vital information, I'd be sure to find another one for future trips.

We are on the January 17 Southern Caribbean cruise and we were notified of the earlier departure time. In addition, on that weekend, there is the San Sebastian festival. We were advised to arrive extra early as travel around Old San Juan and even out by the Pan American Pier that normally takes 10 - 15 minutes is expected to take hours.
