coming in late Thursday night. Is there a safe way to get to our hotel on harbor at 11pm?

11 pm should be completely safe for SNA and Harbor. Which hotel? How about Uber or Lyft? Will you need carseats or a booster? If so (and if a travel booster won't work), try Lansky's.

Just two of us no car seats going to a harbor blvd hotel

Uber or Lyft. We used Uber for the first time from SNA (John Wayne) to Harbor; downloaded the app and used the "first timer" discount for nearly free ride. It runs around $20-25 plus tip, cheaper than a taxi and very fast and convenient.

We did a taxi from SNA to the DLR area. First reason: I was scared of Uber/Lyft (it was 5 years ago, so pretty new.) Second reason: First flight was 90 minutes late, second flight was 90 minutes late, so our 10pm arrival was 12:30am or so by the landing. We were lucky that they let us land there at all. They have (had) a 10pm flight cerfew, and will sometimes have to divert to LAX. The shuttles had all left by the time we landed, so taxi seemed quickest and easiest.

I'd likely do a taxi from SNA again, but that's because I'm just anxious like that after dark, and want to see exactly which car I'm looking for. Hope that makes sense. In the dark, i want to know I'm looking for--a bright yellow taxi is much more identifiable at night than a black Prius/Accord/Lexus with plates DJUYRFVI7. Just my little anxiety issue :)
